ALL HER LIFE family was merely blood. Of course she had her sister and twin brother, but parents? She would beg to differ.
Maia Koa always knew how to take care of herself, she has done it her whole life. Having a deadbeat for a father and a mother that could barely take care of herself, you sort of have to improvise.
All her life, Maia lived by one thing, 'You can't change someone who doesn't see an issue in their actions.' She never bothered to change her fathers actions.
He was abusive, she hated him and herself for letting him hurt her, but she did it for Luna and Anthony. Luna and Anthony were the only people Maia care about. Her little sister made her days just a little bit better, enough to get her up in the morning. Her twin brother made her feel safe and cared for and she knew he would care for her the rest of his life.
So when Maia was in highschool, shit hit the bricks a lot at home, her father kicked her out 3 times and a lot of shit went down. She started smoking, drinking, you name it. It was supposedly her rebellion, but she knew she had a to take care of Luna and Anthony.
So when her Mother died of Cancer, her father went reckless, tried to hurt Luna, and got Maia put in the hospital because all she was trying to do was protect her sister.
Now Maia was out of school by this time and applied for some university in Atlanta, she got the scholarship but it got revoked the day she was supposed to go for an interview when in reality she went to a parent-teacher conference with her twin brother, just to make sure Luna was getting good grades, that day Maia and Anthony gave up something.
After that she gave up on college and enlisted for the ROTC, she somehow got in and did her training while taking her sister to school and taking care of her.
So when the 'Apocalypse' hit, Maia, Luna and her Abusive Ex boyfriend left for Atlanta, scared for what would happen next.
She wished she could've seen her friends and possibly find her twin brother again but it was too late, she just wanted to know if they were okay and safe.
So now here we are, Maia is stuck in an army tank. in the city surrounded by the walking dead, ironic isn't it?
