Scarlett’s POV
1 month later
“Louri what are you doing?” I call as I go outside to the backyard. “I’m building a duck enclosure!” She yells back excitedly. “Why?” I ask as I make my way to her. “Well you had mentioned you wanted runner ducks.” She says shruging her shoulders. “Babe you don’t have to do this just for me.” I say putting my hand on her shoulder. “I know I’m doing it for Devon to. Right Little Marine.” She says to the child in my arms. “You want the ducks too don’t you?” I ask making her laugh and nod. “I looked up a video of them on YouTube and they are fucking funny.” She laughs. “If you keep cussing in front of Devon his first word is probably going to be a cuss word.” I say with a chuckle. “What’s wrong with that my first word was fuck.” She says. “Why am I not surprised?” I say. “Besides Devon is only 6 months old he won’t start talking till he is at least a year old, you heard the doctor.” She says going back to building the enclosure. She has be revenitating the house a lot lately after that call with the general last month don’t get me wrong I have no problem seeing her in just a sports bra and shorts with her toolbelt on it’s just new and something she’s never done before. “Babe, what's wrong somethings off?” I ask her, causing her to sigh. “Remember my call with the general last month?” She asks and I start to get a bad feeling. “Yes.” I respond. “I didn’t know how to tell you so I’ve been distracting myself so I didn’t have to tell you yet.” She says pinching the bridge of her nose. “If you are about to tell me you got deployment orders I don’t want to hear it because you aren’t going.” I say my eyes are starting to tear up and my voice is cracking. “Baby I’m not getting deployed I’m getting promoted and I didn’t know how to tell you.” She says, making me let out a sigh of relief. “Why would you be nervous to tell me that? This is great news right?” I ask happy for her she has worked so hard for this. “Yes and no.” She says. “I will have to be stationed at the base in New York for 6 months which means I won’t be able to see you everyday when I come home from work.” She says and I chuckle making her look at me confused. “What?” She asks. “Babe I well we have a condo in New york.” I remind her and her face lights up and she does her signature goofy victory dance this woman has no rhythm. “I completely forgot about the condo.” She says with a smile but it quickly goes  away. “I can’t ask you to drop everything and move out there with me. That would just be selfish of me.” She says shaking her head. “I want to and you aren’t asking plus I will hate being apart from you for that long even before we were together.” I say making her smile come back. “When do we need to get ready to go Major?” I say emphasizing Major. “Well the promotion ceremony is in two weeks.” She says. “Two weeks, why didn’t you tell?” I ask slightly hurt that she kept something so big from me. “Because it’s not a big deal.” She says and I just give her my Natasha Romanoff stare. “I’m in trouble for not telling you aren’t I?” She says since I only give her the stare when she’s in trouble. “Yes you are. It’s a huge deal you have been working your ass off for years just to make it to where you are and now you are getting a promotion it’s a big deal.” I tell her. “Ok when you put it that way I should have told you but I wanted to surprise you by coming home with the oak leaves instead of the Captains bars. Do you want to go to the ceremony?” She asks it’s cute that she wanted to surprise me but I would much rather be there. “Of course I do. When you stand on that stage I want you to see both me and Devon right in the front row cheering for you.” I say and her smile grows. “I think I would like that. It sounds better then just surprising you. Plus it would be my Little Marine’s first military event.” She says now excited about it. “Ooo we can get Devon his own costume dress blues that way he looks just like his Mama.” I say pulling out my phone to call MK and Ashley since they would love this. “I’m going to shower it’s starting to get to hot out here to continue building today. Let's head in.” Louri says and I follow her. After Louri gets in the shower I call them.
“Hey Scar what’s up?” MK answers.
“I was wondering if you would design Devon his own custom dress blues. I will pay you of course?” I ask.
“No need to pay Scar we would love to. What’s the occasion or are you just spoiling him again?” Ashley says with a laugh.
“Well it’s for a special occasion I just can’t say what it is yet.” I tell them.
“Ok well Lizzie is planning on coming over to your place for lunch today right?” MK asks.
“Yeah she is why?” I question.
“Would you mind if we tagged along so we can get Devon’s measurements and Devon cuddles?” MK asks.
“Of course you guys are always welcome, you know that. Well I got to go, someone is getting hungry.” I say as Devon starts to cry.
“Ok Scar see you later.” They both say before hanging up.
“Who’s coming over other than Lizzie?” I hear Louri say as she walks into the kitchen her hair still wet from her shower. “Oh the Twins are going to join us for lunch.” I say as I try to get Devon to eat the baby food unsuccessfully. “Marine listen to Mommy and eat your food.” Louri says in her Marine tone and it works. “Why is he following your orders at 6 months old?” I ask after I finish feeding Devon. “Well remember when you had that really busy day last week?” She asks. “Yes it was exhausting.” I say. “Well I was called into the office and I was feeling a little clingy so after getting into uniform I took him with me. Well I was in the mess hall trying to get him to eat when Coronel Potter literally ordered him to listen to me and eat and it worked so I thought I would give it a shot and I’m honestly surprised it worked.” She explains as she sits at the table with me. “Wow.” I say. “Yeah but I don’t think I will do it when he’s older I don’t want him to think I will treat him like he’s one of my soldiers.” She says and I nod. “So who knows about your promotion?” I ask. “You, Devon, and my unit since they were on the call when I got the news.” She says and I’m surprised she didn’t even tell Chris. “I’m surprised you didn’t tell Chris already.” I say and she tenses. “What’s wrong?” I ask softly, reaching over and taking her hand in mine. “I haven’t talked to him since the night we had that fight.” She says and I’m shocked. “Louri Babe that was three months ago. Did something happen between you two that night that I don’t know about?” I ask worried since Chris and her are normally talking with each other everyday how did I not notice. “I’m still mad about what he said to you and about you that night.” She says her eyes tearing up. “Babe call him.” I say softly. “I don’t know Scar. What if I’m too late?” She says and I walk around the table to sit next to her and I rub my hand up and down her back. “Louri it’s Chris. You two are some of the most stubborn people I know but I know that you two will work it out.” I say handing her my phone. “Ok.” She says pulling up his contact on my phone. “Do you want some privacy?” I ask as she hits the call button and puts the phone to her ear. “No please stay.” She says and I nod.

Louri’s POV
Scarlett is sitting next to me rubbing my back as i use her phone to call Chris.
“Scarlett is everything ok is Louri ok. Is Devon ok? Are you ok?” He says panicked
“Hey Chrissy.” I say trying to hold back my tears I didn’t realize just how much I missed my big brother till I heard his voice.
“Louri? Is everything ok why are you using her phone? Oh god please tell me nothing happened to her or Devon.” He says panic still evident in his voice.
“No Chris everyone is ok and healthy. I just told Scarlett about the fact that you and I haven’t talked since the night of the fight and she told me to call you and I didn’t realize just how much I’ve missed you till I heard your voice.” I say my voice cracking Scarlett puts her arm around my shoulders and pulls me in a little.
“I’ve missed you too Lor. I’m sorry for evey single thing I said that night I was mad and I was out of line can you ever forgive me?” He says his voice now cracking.
“Of course I forgive you. You’re my big brother.” I say with a teary chuckle.
“I’m in L.A right now do you want to maybe meet up for lunch?” He asks shyly.
“I would fucking love that. Why don’t you come over today Lizzie and the Twins are coming around 13:00. But you could come now if you want.” I tell him.
“In that case I’ll see you in 20 min sis.” He says excitedly.
“See you in 20.” I say before hanging up.
“Lunch is going to be bigger than expected.” I say to Scarlett with a chuckle. “So Chris is coming over?” She asks with a smile. “Yep.” I say happily. “I’ll run to the store and grab some more food then.” She says. “Ok Devon and I will start up the grill.” I say making her eyes widen. “No he is not going near an open flame plus I was planning on taking him with me so you and Chris can have some time to yourselves.” She says. “Ok you are right about the open flame thing and thank you that means a lot.” I tell her. “Of course Hunny you two deserve some time together after not talking for 3 months.” She says as she gets up and gets her things before getting the carrier and Devon. “I’ll be back in about an hour.” She says giving me a quick peck on the lips. “Ok be safe I love you.” I say to her. “I love you too.” She says before heading into the garage.
