Louri’s POV
Today is the Captain America Civil War premiere. We managed to get a sitter for the night so we don’t have to worry about Devon and we can just enjoy the movie. We are in the car on the way there when my phone rings. “Damn it. It’s the general. I have to answer it.” I tell Scarlett. “It’s ok we still have twenty minutes till we get there.” Scarlett says and I nod before answering. “This is Major Evans.” I say answering the phone.
“You need to come to the base right now, Major.” The general says and I can tell somethings wrong by the sound of his voice.
“Sir what’s happened?” I ask him
“You need to be at the base by 22:00 (10:00) . That's an order Major.” He says before hanging up.
We are only a few miles away from the house. I can get there on foot. “Stop the car!” I yell at the driver and he pulls over. “Louri what’s going on?” Scarlett asks worried. “I don’t know but I do know it’s not good. The general sounded off and I have to be at the base at 22:00. I’ll call you when I can and know more ok.” I tell her as I lean in and give her a kiss before getting out of the car. “Be safe.” She tells me. “I’ll do my best.” I say before signaling to the driver that he can continue driving and I make my way to the house. I get changed into uniform and grab my bag that I keep for times like this. “Love you Devon I’ll see you as soon as I can.” I say to the sleeping child quietly giving him a kiss on the head before saying goodnight to the sitter before leaving and heading to the base. “Sir, I got here as fast as I could.” I say to the general standing at attention with my hand raised in a salute. “At ease Major.” He says after returning the salute. “I’m sorry about taking you away from such a big event with your wife but you and your unit are needed in Afghanistan as soon as possible. There is Marine unit that is surrounded and held up in a small village and they need help that’s where you and your unit come in.” He tells me. “Sir I won’t be able to reach Scarlett until she gets home from the premiere around 00:00 hours.” I tell him. “Well you will already be on a plane at that point on your way to Afghanistan. Is there anyone else you can call?” He asks. “Yeah I can call Tina and she can hand her phone to Scarlett.” I tell him. “Then go make that call Major the plane will be landing in about 20 minutes and you will be getting on as soon as you can.” He tells me so I nod and go into the hallway.
“Hey Louri what’s going on Scarlett is hiding it well but she is worried?” Tina asks as she answers.
“Tina I don’t have time to explain give the phone to Scarlett since she left hers at home.” I tell her.
“Louri, she's in the middle of the red carpet. Is it urgent?” Tina asks.
“Damn it Tina, just give her the damn phone!” I yell at her.
“Ok one second.” She says to me,
“Scarlett, it's Louri for you.” I hear Tina tell Scarlett.
“Louri what’s going on?” Scarlett asks over the sounds of the paparazzi.
“I’m being deployed Baby.” I tell her and I can hear her breath hitch.
“When?” She asks.
“I get on the plane in about 10 minutes. I’m sorry I didn’t know I would be deployed.” I tell her as I watch the plane start to descend.
“It’s part of the job. Can you at least tell me where you are going to be stationed?” She asks as I hear someone ushering her into a private area to which she thanks them.
“Camp Mason I think. Do you still have my sidelite phone number in your phone?” I ask her.
“Yes I do. How long will you be gone?” She asks.
“I don’t know Baby but I will give you a call when I can. I have to go. I love you tell Devon I love him too and I will be home as soon as I can.” I tell her as I make my way to the plane.
“I love you too. Stay safe.” She says and I can hear the sadness in her voice.
“I’ll do my best. I’ve got to go.” I tell her before hanging up and getting on the plane.
  “Hey Major I’m sorry you had to miss the premiere.” Sherman tells me. “I’m upset that I didn’t get to say a proper goodbye to Devon. He was asleep when I left. Now he is going to wake up in the morning and I won’t be there.”

We are almost to the village that the troops are trapped in when I hear Private Kelly scream. “HOLD ON!!” Then the next thing I know Henderson is yelling at me to wake up. “Shut up.” I tell him and he sighs in relief. “Um your wife is on the phone and refuses to hang up until she talks to you I tried telling her that our humvee blew up but I think I made things worse.” He tells me. “YOU WHAT? GIVE ME THE SAT PHONE NOW!” I yell. “Scarlett?” I say through the phone. “Oh thank god I thought you..” I cut her off. “I’m ok I just hit my head I’m fine. I’ve had worse you know that. What do I owe the pleasure of your call?” I tell her hearing her breathing go back to normal. “It’s Devon he.” She starts. “What’s wrong is he ok what happened?” I ramble. “He’s fine, he just wants to hear your voice. You panic very easily for a Marine.” She laughs. “Only when it  comes to you two. Will you put me on speaker?” I sigh, getting up. “Mama?” I hear Devon ask through the phone. “Yeah Buddy it’s me. Are you taking care of Mommy for me?” I ask him. “Yes!” He says victoriously. “INCOMING!!!” I hear. "Louri what's happening?" Scarlett asks fear laced in her voice. "I've got to go Baby I’ll call you when I can. I love you two very much." I say before hanging up. "What were you thinking answering the phone while I was unconscious you dumbass?!" I yell at Henderson as we take cover. "She kept calling and I wasn’t thinking." He explains. "Then you let her call as many times as she wants you don’t answer the fucking phone!" I yell as I return fire. "Now she is probably more worried than she was before thanks to you." I say angry. "I'm sorry Major." He says as we make our way to the village. "Yeah well you're not the one who has to deal with a panicked Scarlett!" I yell as we get inside one of the buildings and luckily for us we are met with the Marines we were sent here to help.

It’s been a week and we managed to get back to base with only minor injuries but I haven’t been able to reach Scarlett to tell her I’m ok and coming home today so when we land I’m going straight home.
I get to the house and see Scarlett’s car and park and run inside. “SCARLETT I’M HOME!” I call out and hear a chair fall over and footsteps come running towards me. “I thought you died!” She cries into my shoulder. “I’m sorry Baby my sat phone broke. I tried to get ahold of you but I couldn't. I'm so sorry for scaring you.” I say rubbing her back I pick her up and take us to the living room so we can sit down. “Shh Baby I’m right here and I’m not too badly injured.” I tell her. “What do you mean ‘not too badly injured’?” She asks as her head snaps up to look me in the eye. “I’ve got some cuts and bruises and a fractured rib but that's it. I’m ok.” I tell her honestly. “You promise you’re ok?” She ask tears still streaming down her face. “I promise. Where’s Devon?” I ask. “He’s at Liz’s house she’s the only one who knows about the call I didn’t want to scare everyone. I haven’t really been able to function since that phone call I was so scared hearing the explosions and gunfire in the background.” She tells me and I just hold her tighter. “I’m sorry Scarlett. Henderson shouldn’t have answered the phone; it's against protocol. Why don’t we give Liz a call tell her I’m ok and ask if she can keep Devon till tomorrow.” I suggest and she nods. After we call Lizzie and she is very happy that I’m ok Scarlett curls up in my lap and even though it hurts my rib I don’t show it and we just stay like that till she falls asleep. I carry her upstairs to our room and lay her in bed before I take a shower and join her in bed. She immediately comes to my side in her slleep and I just wrap my arms around her and slowly drift off to sleep.
