"Hey glad y'all could make it." He spoke reaching in for a hug. "Didn't really think we had a choice." I mumbled. And he laughed. We stepped in as he closed the door behind us.
"And who is this lil man" August coed and tickled Neeko.
"This is Nicholas, but to me he's my Neekooo, I nudged at him and he began to laughh.
"Uncle auggyyy" a little girl ran up to him. She was the cutest, in her tye-outfit and pineapple puff." He picked her up and gave me a stink look.
"Hey, hey. Be nice. This gonna be your aunty."
"August please. I gave him a straight face."
"Loosen up girl..... Princess this is uncle Aug friend Jazmine." Jazmine this is my niece Kaylin."
"Hi, nice to meet you Kaylin. This is my nephew Neeko." I motioned him to wave at her. She gave a dry look and response.
"Not a fan huh?" I asked and she shook her head and turned back to August.
"Can I Have ice cream pweaseeee" we gotta eat dinner first lil bitt. It's almost ready. I got your favorite too." He smiled and stoked her hair.
"Yessss" she squirmed excitedly as she pumped her fist up and down. He put her down, and told her to go was her hands. I placed Neeko down in the living room corner, and pulled out his stuffed animals and his rattle snake that sings to keep him occupied.
I joined August in the Kitchen as he stirred the pot.
"Your really are an amazing uncle. I admire that about you." I spoke
"Thanks baybeh, I do the best that I can, especially for Kay, my brother locked up for killin a cop. He said he ain't do it but you know how fucked up this justice system is.
"Tell me about it. My da—" I caught my words and bit back the tears before they even started."

"Yeah, I was saying, I promised him to look after her, and even if he was here she'd still get the same treatment. I wanna teach her that it's good niggas out here. To know her worth and never settle for less , and to not depend on men."
"That's great, your going a good job. Where are your other Nieces?. I asked and his smile begins to fade. I gently rubbed his back. "Hey you don't gotta talk about it if you don't want to."
"Nah, I'm good, I just miss them soo much. My oldest brothea and I had a big fallin out. They live in Texas, w their mama. Last I heard their not togethea anymore and he don't be around them much.
