Peter's suspicion was right. Katherine had been hanging around the two more often. She never asked for anything or threatened them like the first time they met. But the three knew if they snitched on her, she'd kill them without blinking.
At first, Peter was weary about Katherine's random visits, but after her constant reassurance that she wasn't going to hurt them unless provoked his anxiety wore down.
She'd only come around twice a month, sometimes three times in a month when she wasn't so busy. She was somewhat honest with the two. She told them she wasn't a good person, but they already put that together, especially when she came to visit them and she had blood on her shoes.
They were curious as to why the girl would want to hang around them. They didn't have many friends, so a pretty girl like Katherine still hanging around was odd to them.
One day Peter's curiosity got the best of him and so he asked her why she hangs around them.
"I don't know. Was just curious as to what the famous Spider-Man does on his spare time." Katherine shrugged.
She was lying. After that day she got them to hack into a website, she watched over Peter. She wasn't necessarily stalking him, she was just curious how he lived two lives. During the morning he was a grade A high school student and in the night he was fighting crime in his neighborhood. Normally Katherine would've just killed the two, but she surprised herself when she left them unharmed.
Truthfully, Katherine envied Peter. The boy has an Aunt who loves him, friends who care about him, and a boss who sees him as a son. Katherine never experienced a normal teenage life. During those years she was off on missions killing who ever Hydra wanted her too.
She would never admit it, but she enjoyed Peters company. From another point of view she looked miserable at all times, but on the inside she actually liked Peter. She limited to how much she saw him. She knew Hydra was still after her. She couldn't risk them catching the two together and thinking she cared for the boy. It wouldn't matter if she did, Hydra would take him as leverage for Katherine to come back.
Being on the run from Hydra, she became more cold then before she left. She had no remorse or care for anyone. She was a hostile sociopath incapable of emotions. Maybe that was why she hung around Peter and Ned, they made her feel normal—sometimes.
After a few months doing random visits with the two best friends, Katherine disappeared. She continued her missions taking out Hydra compounds. Peter was worried about her whereabouts. He saw her as one of his closest friends even though she wasn't the most innocent person. Ned reassured the junior she is very capable of taking care of herself. After a few weeks Peter decided to push Katherine to the back of his mind, though that didn't stop his nagging overthinking late at night.
