Scaramouche reacted quickly as he heard Gorou cry out. He caught Kazuha before he hit the ground and held him up. He was very light, too light.
"Kazuha?!" Gorou ran up to try to grab Kazhua. Scaramouche held him closer and away from Gorou.
Scaramouche held him and moved him into a bridal-style carry. He started to spin around frantically. A crowd of people was gathered around the scene.
"Do you even know what to do?" Gorou asked frantically.
Scaramouches non-existent heart was beating "Where do I bring him?!" he half-yelled.
"Follow me," Gorou said. "It's fine everybody, please calm down!" Gorou yelled at the bystanders that murmured to each other.
They rushed to Watasumi island using teleport waypoints. "Why are we here?" Scaramouche wouldn't let go of Kazuha. Kazuha at least showed some sign of life, Gorou checked his pulse- Normal, the only thing was heavy breathing and a fever.
"We are going to take him to Lady Sangonomiya," Gorou said staring at Kazuha. "She'll know what to do."
"How do you know that she's trustworthy?" Scaramouche inquired.
"How do I know if you're trustworthy?" Gorou snapped back.
Scaramouche glared at Gorou. (SUCK MY BALLSSSSSSS)
The train ride continued very awkwardly. The young nurse in the car shuffled his feet quietly on the ground.
"Umm, could I leave now?" The nurse said quietly, sweat beading down his face.
"Of course." Gorou smiled at him.
The two were quiet other than the soft tapping of Gorous's foot on the wooden floor.
The moment that they reached the village near the shrine, the two bolted to the shrine. Kokomi was standing near the shrine as one of her handmaidens informed her of their arrival. Kokomi rushed forward and looked at Kazuha.
"Follow me," She said, "I don't think he is in too much danger."
In the shrine, they placed Kazuha on a couch and Kokomi rested her hand on his forehead.
"Fever," She said, "it's most likely because of stress or overworking the body."
Her vision glowed as a fluorescent jellyfish appeared out of her hand. She walked to a table and grabbed a wet towel for his forehead.
"Gorou, I will need you to return to your position." Kokomi stood up.
"But Lady Sangonomiya-" Gorou cried.
"No buts, all Mr. Kaedehara needs is some rest." She interjected. "Plus we have somebody who seems to be able to take care of him." She gestured to Scaramouche who was standing near Kazuha, holding his hand.
Gorou let out an exasperated sigh and mumbled something under his breath before saying "Of course Lady Sangonomiya." He strode out of the room but not before taking one last look at Scaramouche. Scaramouche squeezed Kazuhas hand tighter, somewhat in defiance.
"I think that you are good to take care of him?" Kokomi said.
"Yes."
Kokomi left the room, she was a busy lady after all. Scaramouche was left alone in the room, his mind was racing. Kazuha didn't go to sleep yesterday, did he? Scaramouche knew that he should have gone with him and made sure he did.
Scaramouche slumped onto the ground and sighed. What was he doing? Worrying like this for a mere human. He had only known Kazuha for a couple of days after all. Was he swaying in his duty just because some boy was pretty, kind, and cute? And was so nice to be around, and-
Oh shit.
Scaramouche groaned and covered his face with his hands, this was so stupid.
He stood up and pushed some loose hairs out of Kazuha's face. He looked so soft, so fragile. A whisper echoed through the back of his mind, "I want to break him."
He rested his hand on Kazuhas cheek, and Kazuha shuddered. The difference in the body temperature between the two clearly demonstrated.
"Tomo..." Kazuha whispered.
Kazuha twitched violently and fell into Scaramouche. The wet towel fell to the ground with a splat.
"Kazuha?!" Scaramouche yelped. Arms instinctively going around him.
"...just- just hold me for a minute." Kazuha choked out.
Scaramouche held Kazuha in his arms as Kazuha closed his eyes. He looked so tired.
They sat there for a solid 10 minutes until Kazuha finally sat up. He looked into Scaramouches eyes long and hard.
"Thank you."
"No problem."
Scaramouche looked down, his face was red. He had never experienced this type of red before. A warm red. It was like the world had stopped for him to finally let him enjoy something in life. He felt so warm.
For somebody so cold.
"Why didn't you listen to me!" Scaramouche half-screamed catching Kazuha off guard- half congratulating himself for breaking the awkward tension, half punching himself in the face for ending that nice moment.
"I'm sorry!" Kazuha said quickly. "I just got carried away!"
"What do you think tama thinks about this?!" Scaramouche said, anger rising.
"Tama isn't confined to my room you know?" Kazuha said. "He wanders all around inzuma city. He is very self-serving."
"Smart cookie, Unlike his owner." Scaramouche snapped back
"Haha."
Kazuha stood up first but then stumbled forward, his balance uneven. Scaramouche leaped up and grabbed him before he fell. Kazuha gave him a small smile. Making his "heart" flutter.
"We should head back, I can tell we are in Watasumi island. I'd hate to miss out on the lunch discount." Kazhua said hurriedly.
"But what about you-" Scaramouche retorted.
"Calm down, I'm not made of glass." Kazuha laughed.
You might as well be. Scaramouches mind whispered. Two days without sleep and you are in this condition? I have to protect you.
Along with being absolutely pissed the fuck off with Kazuha for putting himself in danger like this. not only that but Scaramouche was angry with himself for caring for a mere human who he had only known for a couple of days. He came here for a job after all. And he had his mind set on finishing this job.
Scaramouche looked away and grabbed Kazuhas wrist tightly. "Come on" he barked out.
But with all his "heart" he vowed he would protect Kazuha.
No matter the cost.
