Absence from those we love is self from self- a deadly banishment
-William Shakespeare
Sometimes we don’t realize what’s right in front of us. Everyone has gone through an event where they are desperately looking for something, like a pencil or their misplaced hair brush and after looking everywhere and deciding they’ve permanently lost it. Someone else or maybe even they realize it is right there in front of them. Then, they get a good laugh about their stupidity and wonder how the heck they could have missed it. I’m going to tell you my story on how looking for the thing I thought I wanted drove me away from what I needed. How does that relate to my metaphor of looking for something that was there right in front of me? Well it doesn’t relate at first glance, let me clarify. I was looking for what I thought I wanted, however what I wanted and ultimately needed was always there in front of me, albeit in a different form.
