Delilah’s POV

I have never had my heart beat so fast for someone so many times in a short amount of time. All the things I have always liked about Aaron are being magnified when I am with him. I am even learning more about him that I didn’t know, that I am growing to love. We complement each other and are exactly what the other needs. I still can’t believe he likes me. After we kissed, he asked me if I wanted to dance with him, and I said yes. We danced for a while, I had the time of my life. I couldn’t help noticing that Rose and Tyson were talking on the stairs. I wonder if he told her how he felt about her, and what she said. I couldn’t wait to ask her. I looked back and neither of them were at the stairs. Maybe they went somewhere else to talk.

I feel someone tap my shoulder and I see Rose. She’s smiling at us, both Aaron and I blush.

“Oh, shut up Rose,” Aaron says before she even spoke.

“I’m just so happy for you guys!” she exclaims.

“Thanks, I saw you and Tyson talking, anything new?” I ask suggestively. She tenses and seems uncomfortable.

“No. He just asked me out,” she says, rolling her eyes. Why is she rolling her eyes? What happened?

“What did you say?” Aaron asks.

“No, of course! What did you expect?” she says like it is the most obvious thing in the world. What! She’s not even giving the guy a chance. She hardly knows anything about him either and she got mad at me for liking him without knowing him, now it is her turn. She thinks he is something way worse than he is, she doesn’t know the real him. The one that confessed his undying love for her.

“Why would you say that?” I exclaim, angry now.

“Well maybe because I don’t want to go out with him! Why are you so surprised?” she asks

“Yeah, she pretty much hates him, I’m not surprised,” Aaron says.

“You should give him a chance,” I say, “You can’t judge him without having fully understood him. Get to know him, the real him, the way he is backstage,” I wink at Aaron, “that’s where the real show goes on.”

“Let’s go Delilah,” Aaron says, and I smile because Aaron and I decided we would go to a yogurt shop together as our first official date. I’m so excited, I could be doing anything, ranging from most boring to fun with Aaron and still appreciate the moment because I’ll be with him. He makes me happy for the things I couldn’t find happiness in before. He makes me realize there is happiness around us always, you just have to notice it. It’s not about the circumstances, rather what you make of them. We’re going to have so much fun together.

Rose’s POV

On Saturday, I woke up early to get some homework done because I have a swim meet a little later. I walk out of my room to the living area in the downstairs part of my house that Aaron and I share, and I see Aaron and Delilah sharing a blanket and bowl of popcorn while watching a movie. Aaron had his arm wrapped around Delilah and they were wearing comfy clothes. I’m assuming they pulled an all-nighter. I laugh and say,

“You guys do realize we have a swim meet today, right?” They both looked at each other shocked and then, burst out laughing. They are so in love, I’m happy for them.

Last night, I couldn’t stop thinking about what Delilah said, she’s right, who am I to judge Tyson? It does seem like he is dealing with a lot of things, his parents getting divorced , not doing so well in swim meets, bad grades etc. Maybe I should talk to him and get to know his story. How can I expect him to be nice to everyone when everything seems hard for him. I know I wouldn’t be so kind if my parents were getting a divorce.

I decide to call him and ask if he still wants to go out with me. We could go somewhere to eat or something like that after the swim meet, and get to know each other. What if he doesn’t really like me, though? Why should I waste my time with him? Well, I’ll find out what his intentions are in the date, just one date will let me know if he really is a bad guy.

I tell Aaron and Delilah that they should be getting ready for the meet and they whine but eventually separate from each other. I tell Delilah how Tyson and I are going to go out after the swim meet.

“Really? That’s great. He really likes you!  You guys are going to have a great time” she says knowingly

“I’m just going for him to be able to redeem himself”

“You’ll see him in a completely new light, trust me,” she says knowingly once again, what does she know?

“How was the date?” Delilah asks me excitedly. I had just gotten home from the date and the swim meet, Tyson dropped me off.

“It went well” I say, not letting in any clues as to how it really went.

“C’mon Rose! Give me more details!” she yells

I laugh, I was just doing this to tease her, “Fine, fine. We went to dinner at a restaurant. The food was great”

“Rose!!”

“The date was fine, nothing special. Just a regular date. He’s normal, not mean and not particularly nice. That’s it. Not much else to say.”

“Will you go on another date with?”

“I don’t know. I don’t think so, I don’t have time for a boyfriend. Swimming,  school, family, sleep all are more important to me. Maybe in the future, when the circumstances are right. Right now, no.”

Delilahs POV

I have learned fate will happen, if it doesn’t that means it is not fate. I was trying to force something that was never meant to be. Just follow your heart, your honest self and everything will work out. Don’t try and be something you are not. Be yourself, and those who stick around are worth it. Those who don’t appreciate you, aren’t worth it. You can’t force someone to like you, they do or they don’t. If they don’t, then you are better off without them. If they can’t like you, why should you?

Being with the one’s you love, honest to God, is eternity’s promise.
