"Why is everyone on their phones? I have a very serious announcement!" Alya exclaimed.
Adrien shot his eyes up from his phone screen and looked around. Marinette was the only other person on her phone. Nino was merely sitting down on the couch watching the show he had put on his T.V. It was a pretty big television, Nino's apartment was very spacious for a living space that was meant for two people to live in.
"We were waiting for you to get off your own phone. Was it your mom again?" Marinette said as she placed her phone down on the coffee table.
"Ugh, yes," Alya groaned. "She's very much hovering over my wedding planning. Like, don't get me wrong, love her to death. But she needs to chill out."
Nino gave her a sympathetic and loving smile. "I'm sure she just wants you to have the most perfect wedding for her perfect daughter."
"Yeah, yeah. Anyway, back to what I wanted to say," Alya waved him off, making Nino roll his eyes but with a knowing smile.
Adrien reached for the remote to turn off the TV.
"Thank you, Adrien," Alya said. "So. Nino and I were discussing details of our wedding, and we obviously love you guys so much that we wanted you to be a part of it," she looked over at Marinette. "We both had the same idea of who we wanted standing beside us. Mari, will you be my maid of honor?"
Adrien looked over to see Marinette's eyes widen with surprise and excitement. "Wait, what? Are you serious?"
Alya rolled her eyes. "It's my wedding. Of course I'm serious, girl."
"What about your sisters?"
"Oh, Nora doesn't have time to fulfill the duties of being maid of honor. She's too busy with her tournaments. And I think it would be weird to pick one of the twins. That's just blatantly exposing who's my favorite."
"So you do have a favorite?" Adrien chimed in with a grin.
"Of course I do, but I'll never tell you," she joked. "But yeah, I would love to have you as my maid of honor, Mari. It just makes perfect sense. You're my best friend. I wouldn't want anyone other than you by my side."
Marinette quickly got up from her spot on the couch and wrapped her arms around Alya. "Of course I'll be your maid of honor."
Alya smiled brightly and whispered something into Marinette's ear that Adrien couldn't pick up on. He peered over at Nino, who just shrugged.
"I'll never understand their girl talk," Nino said quietly.
Whatever it was, it made Marinette laugh and roll her eyes.
