Dominic saw the busted look on her face. He saw the look of worry and embarrassment that entered her eyes. It pleased him to see that. It meant she had some conscience.
Also, she should learn not to assume that people could not understand her language.
"My mother is a native of Emupo." He informed her. "If you insult me again, you will not like my reaction."
Andra snapped out of her embarrassment. She was offended by what she considered his high-handedness.
"Let me go." She demanded.
"Apologize." He said firmly.
Her eyes shone with defiance. "I will do no such..."
He didn't let her finish. "I said, apologize." He ordered his dark and forbidden military voice, surfacing. He hadn't meant to use that tone because it scared people, but it often surfaced when he was getting impatient or angry.
Fear clouded her eyes immediately and she took a step back.
"Right now." He pressed, maintaining the forbidden tone, his eyes narrowed at her.
Her frightened eyes shifted from his and landed on the floor. He could see her struggling with herself, wondering if she had better do the needful or not. He decided not to give her a chance at immediate rebellion.
"I'm waiting."
Her eyes lifted and met his briefly as if to gauge his expression before determining the wisest course of action to take. She saw only tenacity in his countenance.
"I'm Sorry." She mumbled reluctantly.
"Louder." He said sternly.
Her eyes lifted again and rested on his.
"I'm sorry." She apologized, her voice sounding whiny. She was unable to hide her rising anxiety. He was starting to scare her a little.
Dominic opened the door and stepped aside but she stood there, staring at him as though she was frozen on the spot.
"The door is open." He said. "Go ahead before I kick your ass."
She gasped, snapping out of her frozen state. She was also horrified at his words which started to offend her. She was going to confront him, but decided she had had enough of him for the day. She almost hissed with derision as she walked past him, but managed to control herself.
Dominic stood at the doorway, watching her storm towards her car like a bad little girl. Once she was in the car, she stood at the door and looked his way. Then to his surprise, she stuck her tongue out at him and blew air into her cheeks, taunting him.
"You're nothing but a bloody brute." She threw at him.
His eyes narrowed at her again and he started towards her. He paused midway, chuckling in amusement as she started struggling to open the door.
Andra was so bent on escaping him, she didn't stop her hasty movements until she was safely inside her car with the door closed. Looking out through the glass window, she saw him laughing at her, knowing she had been scared that he was coming for her.
Embarrassed that she had shown her fear of him, she hissed and glared at him. God, he was the most annoying person in her life right now. She didn't think that she would ever be able to stand him.
Dominic sneered at her as he considered her escape. Good, he thought. She had the sense to be afraid. Gosh, she was a handful but he was determined never to let her get the best of him.
