"Welcome to the honourable and long-standing Slytherin House." Severus Snape, Head of House Slytherin, said as he swept into the common room with his raven robes billowing behind him. "Or welcome back to our second to seventh years. To the first years who might not know, my name is Severus Snape, I am the Head of this house and Hogwarts's potions professor. For the next seven years of your education, I will be in charge of your wellbeing and safety. Now before I let our prefects show you to your sleeping quarters, allow me to explain some basic rules all Slytherins must follow. Slytherins must always stick together. You cannot go out on your own, so you must make sure you are in a group of three to four, or at the very least two must stick together at all times. We are not a liked house; in fact, we are the most hated in Hogwarts which is why this House and everyone in it will be like your family. Any arguments must be resolved in the common room and only here; to those outside these halls we are a united front. Curfew for first to third years is nine thirty, fourth and fifth is ten, and sixth and seventh years is eleven. Slytherin House is based on a hierarchal system, as some of you must know from your families. The current Slytherin King is Chase Avery with his right hand Everett Parkinson and left hand Odette Rosier. Quidditch Captain is Marcus Flint with his right hand being Graham Montague. Prince of Slytherin is Cassius Warrington with his right hand Adrien Pucey and left hand Flora Carrow. When Heir Avery graduates, Heir Warrington will take his place and so on. The more you achieve, the higher you rise in hierarchy. This includes academic and sports related merits, making connections with those of influence and general well behaviour in class and with the other teachers. Those of you that might struggle with any subjects will also get specialised classes from either myself or the seventh years to help you. Slytherin House must stay at the top of Hogwarts and any falling behind will not be tolerated. I expect you all to try your best academically and come to myself or the Prefects for any help you may need. With the Headmaster's warning about the third floor in mind, I hope none of you break his rule as I know how dangerous that corridor is and wouldn't want any of you near it. Anyone of you who is found out of bed after curfew will not only serve the punishment assigned to you at the time, but will also serve a detention with me. I do not care if you are being mischievous or rebelling as it is expected of teenagers, but Slytherin house has a reputation to uphold and any rule-breaking that is caught will not be tolerated. With that being said, this has been an exhausting day and I'm sure you all want to get some rest, so good night everyone. The seventh year prefects will lead the first years to their dorms and you'll find them here in the morning as well to help take you to the great hall for breakfast."
As soon as the man was done with his speech, the fifth year prefects ushered the first years into two groups divided by gender. Miss Farley took the females up one flight of stairs while Heir Yaxley led the first year boys up the other flight of stairs. The last thing Hadrian saw before going up the stairs was Severus gathering the rulers of Slytherin and the prefects for what appeared to be a very important meeting.
"Alright everyone. In Slytherin house, two students share a room and each floor in the dorm towers is dedicated to a year with a conjoined bathroom for every year. Hogwarts divides the rooms and you'll find your names on the door. Since there are seven of you this either means there will be one room with three or one of you will have a room all to himself." The prefect said as he led them to what was presumably their floor. As soon as they were in the corridor, they noticed the four doors lining one side with the other having only one door, which they assumed was the bathroom. Looking closer, they noticed that there were plaques with two names on each. Draco and Leo were in a room together, Blaise got to share with Theodore Nott, and Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle were together. Hadrian, as luck would have it, had a room all to himself. While he wouldn't have minded sharing with Leo, he was also quite happy with the arrangement as it was.
"Well, I'll leave you all to unpack and go to bed. The lights automatically go out at nine thirty." With that said, Heir Yaxley gave a last bow to Hadrian, who was starting to get bored of all the bowing, before taking his leave.
