The music blasted from my speakers as a pranced around my messy room, tidying as I went. It never really became apparent to me why my room always ended up so trashed, I seemed to remember tidying it regularly. As I ran around my room dancing around as if there was no tomorrow, I was stopped by a shout from downstairs-Mum.
"Honey, turn that down school starts in 20 minutes!"I groaned. At school I was always thought of as the 'Nerd' and I had a feeling, even after 3 years, I still didn't fit in. I didn't fit in anywhere.
I wolfed down my breakfast and walked to the bus stop, checking behind me every so often to remember what I was leaving behind. It seemed things changed to fast for me so I couldn't risk leaving anything unnoticed.
I collapsed in to my usual seat next to,what seemed like, my only friend at forest high. I could hear her talking to me but nothing was sinking in. I was in a trance.
"Hey!" I heard someone shout from behind me. I was used to sly remarks and comments so this usually didn't bother me, but this time was different. I could hear the tender tone in his voice, it sent shivers down my spine. Without looking at him I knew I could trust him.
"Hey, you!" I spun around to see a vision of love and beauty. His hair was slick back into a perfect quiff, completed with a red bandanna. His eyes a perfect shade of hazel brown. He wore a plain white t shirt and washed skinny jeans. And a soft brown leather jacket. "Hey...you new?" I smiled at him to see him flash a perfect set of pearly white teeth.
"Yeah...um wanna maybe hang out a break or something," His eyes shot to the floor and his cheeks flushed he looked back and our eyes met "Sorry...um....my names Jake Howard." I was dying inside. Was this really happening!
"Sure ....um." I out my hand out for him to shake. He took my hand with a gentle sweep and held it shook it once. Jake smirked as a smile spread over my face, kissing my hand which made me blush.
The bus stopped. As everyone clambered towards the door I felt a soft breathing on my neck and that perfect, husky voice whispered in my ear, "Break?" I turned back.
"Break." I whispered back.
I already felt a spring in my step as I walked to my... Agh.... politics class.
The first 2 classes felt like a sea voyage to Australia, knowing Jake would be waiting for me after. However after two long hours of teachers doing what they do best, I fled to the place I usually saw the boys hang around.
"Hey! Wait up!" I spun around to see my BFF Linda " What is up with you? I was talking to you about....um....stuff on the bus and you completely zoned out and started talking to that 'Howard' kid."
"Oh I'm sorry, but he seemed interested in me, don't you think?"
"I think so..." I felt an arm on my shoulder pull me around, "That is if you feel the same" Jake whispered.
I nodded and felt Linda tap my shoulder and mouth "Bye"
I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders and turn me to the same jet black haired figure that entranced me that morning.
I felt him waking, his arm still tight around my brittle figure. "Where are we going?" I asked.
"Somewhere private...I have the urge to tell you something..."
I look at him questioningly and saw a nervous frown fill his perfect face. I decided not to ask again. Jake showed me to a rip in the school fence, leading into the forest. I shook my head at him. Smirking at his nerve to leave school on the first day. "Please...?" he looked down at my blue eyes with his pleading ones. I decided to trust him as he seemed to trust me.
"Trace?" he whispered, his face went pale.
"How do you know my name?" I breathed shocked.
"I know a lot of things....So do you. But you need to understand why." He gulped
We climbed through the gap and strolled into the half light of the forest.
He sat me down on a stump of wood and squatted next to me.
He sniggered "What?" I asked.
"Oh it's nothing it's just....I swear I've seen you before" he smiled "In my dreams" he put his hand through his hair and I laughed shyly and blushed. "I'm being serious!" He sounded hurt so I swirled off the subject.
"What was I doing in your dream?" I asked raising my eyebrow.
"Just being there, being like me. We are special do you understand?" He shot a concerned, longing look me.
"Well if you're referring tot he fact we are acting like a couple" I paused to see the corners of his mouth creeping up. "Then I agree, what we have here is special, I agree with that" I smirked.
"I know that......but there is something more important......more secret" He looked at me and took my hand. rolling up my sleeve to reveal my birth mark. I had always thought it looked like a shield, almost to perfect....
I glanced at him "I know it looks like a shield, I'm not sure what it's of though...." My voice trailed off.
He began to roll up his sleeve to show a mark of much similarity to my own. He looked up at me and gulped "So what we Have similar birth marks" I whispered trying my best to sound questioning, really knowing it couldn't be a coincidence.
Signing, Jake turned to me.
"Trace? Do you know what a Radicier is?" I shook my head.
"Should I?" I shivered.
"I don't know... I think I was sent to tell you..."
"Tell me what?"
