Mates

Chapter 13

Third Person's POV 

The last few weeks have been fun. Winnie has been with Liam and Cassie mostly. Her and Sebastian have gotten closer as well seeing as he is mated to her best friend now. Life has been good for me, in this pack so far. 

Now She is supposed to hang out with Liam today. She got dressed in black leggings and a plain white oversized t-shirt. She tied her hair up in a messy bun. 

She walked out of her room and was greeted by Liam. 
"Are you ready to go?" 

Winnie nodded as she smiled at Liam. She would consider Liam a best friend as well. He had been there for her and she needed that for the past few months. He kept her mind off of Abel and Cain.

They pulled up into a parking spot as they both unbuckled their seatbelts and as they both stepped out of the car, Winnie gasped as she saw a beautiful beach in front of her. She smiled at Liam as she started to walk down the ramp that led to the beach area. 

She took off her flip-flops as she stepped into the sand with Liam behind her. She looked back and he smiled at her.

"What is the special event for?" 
Liam looks down at the sand 
"I have to leave for a week for pack business." 

I look at him and suddenly I feel sad
"Why isn't Sebastian leaving?" 
"He normally would but seeing as he just got mated to Cassie, He doesn't want to leave her so suddenly" 

I look at him. I didn't want him to leave but I understood that he had to put the pack first. 
"Let's enjoy our time together before you have to leave." 

I stood up and reached out my hand. He grabbed my hand and he stood up with me. I smiled at him as we went walking down the beach.

We walk through the door of the pack house, laughing with their hands full of seashells and rocks. I look up at Liam as I hand him a pink rock I found. 
"So you'll think of me while you are gone." 

He laughed
"You make it sound like I'm leaving for months." 
"Well to me, You are." 
"You're being dramatic." 
"I'm never dramatic."

It's been only four days since Liam left and I miss him already. We had grown so close in the month I've been here and I miss him when he is gone. I guess Cassie has noticed I have been miserable because she keeps checking up on me. 

I was laying down in bed when I heard my door open, I looked up and it was Cassie. She sat down on my bed and looked at me with worry.
"Win, You have been in your room for the past four days, only coming out when you need food or to go to the bathroom." 
I sit up so I can look at her
"I just miss him, Cass." 
"I understand you do but you can't spend every waking moment in captivity." 

I groaned as I flop back on the bed, Cass looked at me unimpressed. She grabbed my wrists and made me sit up. I looked at her and groaned again. 
"Snap out of it, Win. It's not like he died." 

I looked at her and she looked over at me with concern. 
"I have had a question, I have been worrying about." 
"What's wrong Cass?" 
"Have you ever thought about the possibility of love again? You've been closed off since Abel and Cain." 

I look at Cass as I am trying to process what she asked because I have not thought of love again. Abel hurt me terribly and I considered never loving again due to that alone.  However, I gave love a shot again because of Cain.  I knew I had loved them both for years. I am so lost in my thoughts I didn’t hear all Cassie has said.  I look at her and ask her to repeat what she said.  

"I said Win, do you think you could ever open your heart to someone else? Or even to forgive the guys?" Cass asks me.
I laugh. “No, there is no way I would forgive them. Well, maybe Abel only because he loved someone else. His only crime is he never loved me how can I hold that against him? With Cain, he told me he loved me and wanted only me and that was a lie. When I asked him about his given mate, he still said he loved me and he chooses me but he chose to be with her behind my back. He hurt me physically and emotionally. I truly believe he only pitied me after Abel and that is why he decided to be my mate. He never loved me because when you love someone you don’t hurt them the way he did me.”

Cass just looks at me for a while. She opens her mouth to say something when Sebastian comes into my room and says
“Liam came home early.”  I jump up and run downstairs. I run right into his arms and tell him how much I miss him then I smell him. He smells different.  The first thought is
Oh, No. He is going to leave me too.  Liam has found his mate and that is when I see her.  She is a replica of Trinity. 
I freeze. I continue to stare at her. Liam clears his throat and declares
"Winnie this is Selina, my mate. Selina this is Winnie, my best friend." 
He slides his arm around her waist like he use to do me. I just want to scream, cry and run away again. I didn’t think I had feelings for Liam but maybe I did.  I just don’t want to lose him like I have everyone else. She will make him choose and I will be left alone again. 
Goddess, why do you take everyone away from me? 

I look into Selina’s eyes they are so pretty. She clears her throat and says
“It is nice to meet you, Winnie. Liam has done nothing but talk about you, he truly loves you as his best friend. I hope we can be friends as well." 
I say “really?”
Selina replies
“Yes, Winnie. I would love to be friends with you” 
I am shocked maybe she won’t make him choose.  Maybe she is nothing like Trinity and won't take Liam from me. I hope this is the beginning of more change, of proving to myself I am lovable and accepted.
