"It's been so long since I've been here," Nia says going up the steps as Alex gently pulled her back by the arm.

"Are you sure that this is safe?" Alex asked, looking up at the dreary place. The windows were clouded with dust and grime, and a musty smell hung in the air even from just outside the door.

"Yeah, come on, I practically grew up in this place."

"I know that but still. I feel like... I'm being watched by someone."

"Oh come on, Alex, don't tell me you're scared."

Alex looked up again, "Whatever, let's go." She said, handing Nia her bag.

As they turned on the lights, a few dimly lit corridors were revealed. The corners, where shadows crept, gave the place an eerie look. Alex was the first to break the silence since they entered the building. "This place is giving me the creeps."

"You'll get used to it after a while. The smell and all." The smells of embalming fluid and decay were heavy in the air. There was a weird feel to this place, almost as if the place itself was haunted by the spirits of the dead.

"I hope you're right about that last part." As Nia and Alex walked the corridors, they came up to a room to the back, shining their flashlights into it.

"This was my dad's office." She gasps.

The room was lifeless and cold, the walls were made of concrete and the floor was covered in a thin layer of dust and debris.

There wasn't even a door. The room was filled with an assortment of notebooks, diaries, and other written records. Some were ancient, bound in leather covers or yellowed paper, and the pages were filled with faded ink.

"And what exactly are we looking for here?"

Nia flipped through their other books that were far more recent, with crisp, new pages waiting to be filled. The shelves were loaded up with books of all kinds, some of them so old they looked more like relics than anything else. "Anything supernatural," Nia said going to flip thru the pages again, but Alex's flashlight was still on her watching her.

"What? The supernatural? Why?"

Nia runs a hand over her mouth before resting her face in her hand. Her breath is a shudder. "Do you know why they cut next week short? What school just gives us classes on Monday and is like well screw the rest of the week."

"No. I thought they were just giving us a break." She saw the look plastered on Nia's face before continuing. "I mean why else would they call a curfew and let kids off?"

"It's because of the murders."

"Yeah, yeah. I saw them on the News."

"But not just any murders. The News didn't specify but I know they were supernatural murders. Vampires. My moms had a few good looks at the bodies. It's not anything normal."

"That would be possible if vampires existed. It's all just myths. Urban legends."

"That's just it. I thought it was crazy too but look at this." She pulled up the image of two holes in the side of some girl's neck, blood ran from it. The same one her mom showed.

She stepped back a moment. "These look... like..." A memory flashes through her mind of a few weeks ago, she was out on a biking trail and saw a dead body with the same thing.

"You saw something like this before?"

"No. No. I haven't." Alex lied blinking away the shocked look on his face before Nia saw.

"Well, the bodies were drained of their blood. There's no other explanation when those are the only markings."

But that wasn't all. Nia took a few photos of the room before she dug deeper into the books and searched through the dusty shelves, she began to realize that the world of the supernatural was more than they had ever imagined.
