Margot struggled to walk on the cobbled up streets, but Rory seemed to walk just fine. They must have been quite used to walking through them. Although they said they wouldn't help Margot rescue their prisoner, Rory was heading this way anyways, so they thought they might as well lead Margot there.

She was still so angry at Fallon. She was also angry that Fallon never gave her a proper reason for keeping this from her. Margot could only assume that Fallon didn't want to get sidetracked by this little rescue mission. All that mattered to her was getting to Project Hope, and dragging Margot along with her. Well, to hell with that.

Rory led Margot through several alleyways, before leading her through the hole of a brick wall into a building, then up a few flights of stairs before walking outside onto a balcony. What Margot saw surprised her.

Most of the buildings on this side of town had several holes in their walls that new wooden structures were built out of, some of them having painted store signs on them, while others looked more like residential buildings. There were makeshift bridges leading from some of the balconies one side of the street to the other. The street below seemed more like a market, with many stalls lined up on the sidewalks. There was a large wall at both ends of the street made from cars and trucks, and other scrap metal to stop intruders.

"Cool, huh?" Rory asked as Margot continued to admire the street. "Well, this is where I'll let you go. You'll find your friend at the police station; that's where we keep the blood bags we plan to transport. Try not to get yourself murdered."

And with that, Rory stepped up onto the bridge that led off that balcony, crossing over to the one on the other side. Margot couldn't imagine having to cross one herself, as they didn't look very sturdy, and they didn't even have railings. They looked like they were just made of wood planks and a bit of scrap metal.

Maybe coming alone was a bad idea, but Margot didn't want any of the others to get involved in this. Saving this person, whoever they were, was something that she had to do. It wouldn't make up for causing the deaths of everyone at her settlement, but it was the least she could do. Plus, she didn't want anyone else to die because of her again, so she had to do this alone.

Looking around the street for the police station, Margot managed to spot it down the road and across the street. Luckily, very few people were out this time of night, and she only really needed to worry about the guards on the gate. Otherwise, she could practically walk down the centre of the street. But that would be a stupid idea, and Margot decided to play it safe instead.

She walked back down to the first floor and exited through the front of the building onto the street. Margot quickly walked down the sidewalk, careful not to draw too much attention to herself, until she was able to cross the road to the police station. The inside was fairly dark, due to there being no electricity, but Margot could make out the empty desk in the front, as well as a hallway to the side.

Margot didn't want to get her hopes up, but she desperately wished to find Rowan inside the police station. She never saw Rowan at the settlement after it was attacked, so there was a chance that she could be alive, a chance that she was sitting inside the station right now, and Margot would be able to see her sister again. Ever since she'd left, she hoped that Rowan was still alive out there somewhere, and to find out that she was truly dead...

Well, it was now or never. Margot opened the door and stepped inside the police station, making her way quietly down the hallway into a room full of desks. The hallway continued further down towards a few holding cells, where the prisoner would supposedly be. As Margot reached the cells, a dread filled her stomach. The holding cells were almost completely empty, besides for a man with black hair that was laying on the bench, facing the wall. Rowan wasn't there.
