"Nina, Congratulations, your pregnant."
The doctors words replayed in her mind a thousand times as she drove herself to her moms house. Tears streamed down her rosy cheeks while she attempted to comprehend the news. She wasn't sure who to tell first. Her moms, Kourtney...Ricky? He was the dad after all, he deserved to know. She knew she wasn't going to keep it from him, that's for sure. She was also a hundred percent sure she was keeping the baby, but at the same time if her and Ricky didn't...evolve from strangers once again, how would she? She couldn't do it on her own, she has her moms but she needed more support than that. She needed the support system she could always go to and he'd know exactly what to say. She needed him. She needed Ricky. But not the new one, the one she doesn't know, the one she knew her entire childhood and teen years. All she could do was pray he hadn't changed that much.
As she pulled into the driveway she'd become familiar with the past five years, she was suddenly taken back to the day she moved permanently away from salt lake. Her biggest regret was not really communicating that with Ricky. He found out from their friends, the normal gossip talk. She couldn't bring herself to do it, and she blamed herself for their falling out, because it's pretty obvious why it was caused. All she gave was that damn lottery card, she got word he appreciated it but she knew damn well he was pissed she didn't actually say goodbye to him. How'd she know that? Well sober thoughts become drunk words. As simple as that, all though he ended up getting her pregnant that night, he still expressed how he felt. The odd thing was, she was drunk enough to have sex with him but sober enough to remember every single word he said.
"You meant everything to me you know? Even after we broke up! But those seventeen years we were best friends, then dating then you practically hated me and then dating again, do you know how hard I fucking tried to make you happy? You move away like a million miles and tell me last minute but I was still supportive! Don't you think I deserved to know singing that song and seeing you at the back of the crowd would be the last time I'd see you, that ticket would be the last thing I'd ever get to remember you? Even if they'd be the last I deserved to know! You said goodbye to everyone but me! You know how shitty that made me feel?" Ricky ranted.
"Ricky please-" Nini started before he pulled her by her waist and kissed her.
As her mind emerged from that thought, she pulled out a card her doctor had given her. It had a number of a doctor? Or maybe it was a clinic that specializes in pregnancy. There was a name, she forgot it though.
She took a single glance at the card and put it back. Nini laid her head back against the car seat and rubbed her forehead.
Nini reached for her phone this time, and took a second to think.
She dialed a number she hadn't called in what felt like ages, she knew what she had to do.
