At a bar in Keystone city, people were drinking, eating, over all having a good time. However there was an argument coming from the bar section if the establishment, a man with black hair, stormy grey eyes, and wearing a black leather jacket, white shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. "Come on Jack," the man pleaded, "Alot of people lost their home when Coast City was destroyed a few months back. This might help you get more buisness while making sure that people know that they are ok to talk about anything they want," he stated pulling up a drawing of bunch of flowers and different symbols of peace and comfort in spectacular shades of blue, green, yellow, and red.
The older gentlemen with a white beard, muscular physique, and in a bartender uniform just glared angrily at the gentleman. "Get your shit out of here Kyle," he spat as he got a patron a beer. "Like I said before. You can't get any work as a freelance artist because your work is trash, like you."
The man named Kyle just sighed as he closed his sketchbook and was about to turn until a hand was placed on his shoulder. He looked to his left to see a black man with short black hair, dark brown eyes, with a marine build, wearing normal clothes. "Mack, can I get two beers?" the man asked the bartender.
The Bartender looked at the two before he just nodded slowly. He grabbed two beers and opened the bottles before putting them down on the bar. "Thanks," the man stated before he handed a beer to Kyle. "What's your name?"
"Kyle Rayner," Kyle stated as he took the beer and took a sip from it. "What's yours?"
The man looked at Kyle, "John Stewart," he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you Kyle," he smirked as he then took a drink.
Kyle raised his bottle and nodded at John, "Nice to meet you to John," he said before taking another swig as John looked at his sketchbook.
John pointed at the sketchbook and asked, "Can I take a look at it?"
Kyle nodded as he handed it to John, taking another swig as he just looked down. "If I knew life as a freelance artist would be this hard. Might have just gone with a comic book company to help pay the bills," he told himself which caused John to chuckle at the statement.
"You're good Kyle," John stated as he flipped through a few more pages. He then closed the book and handed it to Kyle. "Probably the best I ever seen in a long while," he stated which causes Kyle to almost spat out his drink. "You're not used to hearing that are you?"
Kyle coughed as he just shook his head. "No, I'm not," he admitted before the two chuckle. "Besides Comic Cons, and a few art conventions," he sighed before running a hand through his hair. "I'm barely making enough money as it is and now my Girlfriend and I are on the rocks because of my job," he then took another drink of his beer.
"Hey man, I hear ya," John said as the two clinked their bottles together.
Kyle raised an eyebrow, "Really? How?" He asked as he was now more curious than anything.
"I'm an Architect," John revealed as he then looked down at the bottle. "For the longest time, I could barely get a job or even contracts as a Architect, because of my skin color," he said as he looked at Kyle. "I had talent alright, just like you do Kyle. However, no one wanted me around I got a job with Ferris Air," he said as he took a drink.
Kyle had an expression of shock on his face. "No one would hire you because you were black?" He asked.
"That was a part of it," John stated as he took a final swig of his drink. "Things were different during the 70s, yeah people like me had rights but some people still thought we didn't have a place with whites," he explained. "The major reason was because of the war I served in."
