When we arrived to the art gallery, I was surprised at how nice it was. It was a modern building and it was big. It had a lot of big windows, and the walls were gray and white. It was different from the other galleries i've been to. I'm excited to see the art inside."Just so you know, there are some places that are missing a few paintings and decorations. But, they will be here in the next couple of days." Nick said while walking up to the big doors of the gallery. "I don't mind that. I'm just interested in the art, I don't pay attention to such details like if the rooms are decorated or not." I say while making a gesture for him to open the door already.
When the door fully opened, my gaze was met with a big spacious room with paintings all over every wall. There was not even one spot left with no art. The big chandelier hanging from the high ceiling. Under it was a indoor water fountain. There were trees, plants and flowers in every corner of every room. The two big staircases leading to higher levels were illuminated by the big colorful windows with designs on the glass. The moonlight coming from the outside being the only source of light in the spacious gallery. It was beautiful.
While I was admiring the interior I failed to notice Nick staring at me in awe. He looked like he saw the most beautiful thing in the world. I was confused about why he was looking at me like that. As I was looking at him I noticed how handsome he actually was. I know we just met but he really was beautiful. With the moonlight illuminating his face and the suit hugging his body so perfectly. His hair was messy and his tall, slim figure was getting closer to me.
"Do you like it so far?" He asked me while looking me in the eyes. I did like it a lot and I haven't even looked at the art yet. "Yes, I love it. It's beautiful!" I say to him when I notice a statue behind him. I didn't know there were statues here too. As I started walking towards it Nick noticed what I was looking at and followed me.
It was a statue of the same lonely woman from my favorite painting. It was her with the long fitted dress that made her look so effortlessly beautiful. Her messy hair sitting on her shoulders and flowing down her chest. She looked so free in a way, a sad way. I wish I could be a statue. Just imagining the feeling of people actually viewing you as something more than just a person to be disgusted or disappointed of. But as a story or a higher emotion. I wish I could feel that one day, just the pure feeling of being free and loved. That's a big dream of mine. But of course not everyone has the time or even interest to try and understand the complexity of one mere soul.
While I was deep in thought I did not even realize Nick talking to me, trying to get my attention. "Hey Sasha, are you alright? You look kind of sad in a way." He said looking at me with sadness in his eyes. "Oh yeah sorry, I'm alright I just got lost in thought you know." I said smiling at him. He looked at the sculpture and we fell into a comforting silence. It's nice being around such beautiful things, it really calms me.
"I know this woman... not personally of course, but she's in my favorite painting. I never knew that there was also a sculpture of her somewhere" I said to Nick as he smiled and told me "This is my favorite piece of art actually. I like that you can really see the story behind her, the emotions of a lonely woman. She looks free, I would also like to be free". I look at him amazed. It's like he read my mind, is he magic? " That's exactly what I think too. Wow what a small world, this is definitely a sign that we were destined to meet" I said to him happily. "Yeah you're right and i'm happy we did. No one I know likes this sculpture. The truth is that they don't even understand it, it's sad because it's so beautiful" He said his face suddenly changing into a look of sadness. I wish I could know what is bothering him for him to even make a face like that.
After a while of looking around and checking out all of the art and the many sculptures in Nicks gallery, I realized that this night was coming to an end. It's sad because I was actually really enjoying myself. It's been a long time since i've laughed and smiled so much. I almost forgot how it feels, to be happy. I liked Nicks company, he is very sweet, and hes also handsome guy. But thats just a bonus. Charming too. But overall it's very easy to communicate with him, and I like that.
"Well it's getting late, I should probably head home I've got a lot of assignments to finish. But thank you, seriously I had a lot of fun today. I guess buying that coffee today was a good idea after all" I laughed. "Yeah I had a lot of fun too. I guess moving to Paris payed off after all. Hey we should hang out again, only if you want to of course" He said looking at me with curiosity." Oh yes of course, I would really like that. Just give me your number and we can work out the details later" I told him.
After he gave me his information, we went out of the gallery and onto the dark streets with the only source of light coming from the small street lamps on both sides of the road. "Can I walk you home? Sorry if that's too much but I just want to make sure you get home safe" Nick asked with a hint of uncertainty. "Oh you really don't have to. But I mean if you insist, I don't mind. I actually don't hate your company sooo you have my permission" I joked and laughed. "Ha ha hilarious. But thank you for the compliment" He said with a mocking look on his face. " Who said that was a compliment, and also I know i'm funny you don't have to remind me" I joked and we both burst out laughing.
After a short walk filled with serious and funny questions. We were finally at my apartment. "Okay, this is it my wonderful home. Thank you for today really, I had a really nice time" I said smiling at the taller man before me. "I'm glad you did. It was a really nice first day in Paris. Thanks for not yelling at me or getting mad that I bumped into you today" He said with a joking tone. "You're very welcome. Well it's time for me to go, I'll see you next time" I said while smiling at him. "Will do, see you soon hopefully. Good night!" he said while starting to walk in the opposite direction. "Good night to you too!" I yelled back at him.
As I entered my apartment I couldn't wipe my smile off my face. "Damn this guy really is something. I'm really happy that I met him. I hope we see each other as soon as possible." I thought to myself while walking to my room.
