Over at the dinning table Aman and Fadal were already stuffing thier faces with food. Mama's boys. As they call themselves.
The girls came down later on. They were laughing about something.
"Korean series are the best" Hamida said as she sat on her seat which was opposite Fadal while she sat on the other one opposite him.
"Hurry up.and eat the food is getting cold"
Their mom said as she placed a jug filled with water on the table.A spoon, fork and a table knife were kept beside the plates. The food being spaghetti bolognese she decided to eat with the fork which was a little hard to eat with.
"Nadrah, can you eat?" Hamida asked and all attention was on her.
"Uh Yeah I can manage"
"Wait "
She stood up and went to the kitchen and got.... chop sticks?
"Hamida it's not everyone that can eat with those " Ammie said.
"Actually i prefer them to them"
She removed them from the packet and gave it to her.
They all stared at her and watched as she casually eats the food with two pieces of sticks.
"So Nadrah tell us about you"
Aman looked at their mom and shook his head a no.
"It's okay if you're not comfortable talking about it" nice save.
"Oh it's really fine. And please just call me Nad if that's okay" she sighed and drank the water in front if her before speaking. Everyone was looking at her.
"Well, my name is Sa'adatu but I prefer to be called Nad. I am twenty two years old. I left the orphanage when I was sixteen years old because that was the rules. I searched for my family for about four years straight but was of no luck. I work two part time jobs to earn a living and maybe someday go to school and live my dream of becoming an Architect".
Everyone was silent. She cleaned the lone tear that escaped from her eyes and took some water. She needed that.
"Nad, I am so sorry about your parents"
"Oh don't worry about it. I don't look into my past anymore. I am trying my best to look forward. If that's possible."
Hamida placed her hand on her shoulder and gave her a heartfelt smile.
"You'll find them. One day"
"I doubt it."
"Okay that's enough now. Hamida make sure she takes her medication after dinner. I am going to bed and don't stay up late. "
"Good night Ammie" the three chorused at the same time.
"Good night "
And she left the dinning. After finishing up with their food they left.
"Come on. Let's go. Good night guys "
"Night" only Fadal answered.
"Are you okay?" He asked his brother.
"Uhm yeah. I just had to digest what I just heard from her"
" I know. I wonder what it feels like to growing up alone"
After clearing the table they both went to their respective room.
