In the end I convinced them to let me go with them. Bon had to carry me most of the way because whenever I tried to stand for a while I'd throw up. Mr. Tsubaki (I'm sorry if I misspelled his name, I'll fix it later.) told us Rin was supposed to be executed on the roof of the school. Everyone was outraged and shocked, so with Mr. Tsubaki we went to the roof of the school. Unfortunately, Angel was standing in the way, not letting us through.
"I will cut down anyone in my way." He said, going to stab Kamiki with his sword. Shura cut her sword in between them.
"Go, I'll keep him here!" She said. We helped Mr. Tsubaki towards the door to the roof, and I looked back at Shura. She was locked in a tight battle with Angel, and barely glanced towards me.
"Don't do anything stupid kid!" She told me, and I nodded and followed everyone to the roof. When we got there... it was chaos. There was a giant pool of blood in the center of the roof, Rin was laying on the ground unconscious and Yukio was coated in blue flames.
"Is that... Mr. Okumura?" Shima gasped.
"It can't be, Yuki said he didn't inherit the flames of satan remember?" Shiemi said quietly.
"Then what do you call that?" Kamiki whispered in awe. I slid off Bon's back and went towards Rin, trying to pick him up. Shiemi went to Yukio but he sent a wave of flames in front of her, telling her to get back. I wasn't strong enough to lift Rin, so Bon grabbed his arm and hoisted him onto his back.
"Will you be fine walking by yourself?" He asked me.
"It doesn't matter, make sure Rin's alright." I replied, looking back at Yukio. We watched helplessly as something huge formed and started swallowing people alive. I slowly realized it was a Gehenna gate, and if we didn't get out of there fast we'd get sucked up too. We ran away from the gate but not too far away to where we left Yukio behind, even if he almost shot me. After a few minutes we heard... laughter. We made our way back and saw that Yukio looked and sounded different. Terrifying. It didn't look like Yukio at all. We had to leave him, but I found myself unable to. With the Gehenna gate standing next to him and the huge blue flames around him, I just couldn't find myself leaving. Demons were spewing from the gate and into the sky, it was utter chaos. But I felt some kind of strong pull keeping me from leaving, like I was supposed to stay here, to do something. Tori grabbed my shoulder.
"Aaushi, we need to go regroup." She said over the roar of demons. I looked at her and to the gate, stuck between a rock and a hard place. Then it clicked.
"Tori I love you." I said quietly.
"What are you talking about?" She said, but I kissed her forehead and ran to the gate. She yelled at me, but I tried to ignore her. Yukio laughed at me.
"What do you think you can do, little girl?" He guffawed in an unnatural voice. I stopped in front of the gate and looked back at Tori, smiling slightly.
This was what I had to do, what I was supposed to die for.
I called upon my flames and seemed to hear words coming to me from nowhere. I began chanting them and my flames seemed to choke the gate, burning the demons trying to get out. As this happened I felt like my whole body was burning up and becoming weak. I knew I couldn't destroy the gate, only Rin can do that. But I was going to keep a guard over it to keep the demons out.
And I was going to die trying.
My vision went dark around the edges and the words stopped coming to me. I finished the last sutra and there was a bright purple light before I stopped breathing and my body fell to the ground, disintegrating on the way down. I saw one last look of Tori, yelling for me and I slipped into her mind one last time.
