When we arrived at the Starbucks there was already a huge line. And it was something I always hated, waiting in line, when I was hungry.

"Well, fuck." I said crossing my arms. "I think we're going to wait here all day."

"Not necessarily. I work here part time during the week, but today is Sunday, so..." James replied.

I nodded and he pulled out his star card, apparently they had those, before he managed to get to the front and wave it in front of the girls face.

Latte, mocca, and black coffe.

"What are you two talking about?" James asked once we were settled outside at a table for four.

"About the party tonight." Chaeryeong said taking a sip of her latte.

"Oh yeah, you should come." Ryan said.

"Me?" I asked, since apparently everyone was looking at me.

"Yeah! It's going to be great and you finally get to meet everyone!" Chaeryeong replied.

"Yeah, the birthday bitch, Sophie, Zayn and Jake." Ryan said.

"Okay and how should I dress?"

"Well, it's a frat party... So show as much skin as possible." James joked, but then got serious when he saw I wasn't laughing at that. "I-I mean, whatever you're comfortable in."

"Got it." I smiled because I thought it was cute the way he stammered. "So, where can I get a job?"

"You can't." Said all three of them at once.

"What? Why?"

"It's hard enough to get a job in the city."

"So how do you guys work?"

"I don't." Ryan replied with a shrug. And it showed, I could tell he was a mommy and daddy's boy.

Then I looked at Chaeryeong.

"I'm a phone sex operator." She said and no one batted an eye.

"A what?" I asked in surprise.

"You know, you have phone sex with strangers, get paid ten dollars a minute. Easy money and plus I can work whenever I want."

"Whoa... Oookey."

"Don't worry, love. You'll find a job." James said reassuringly as he wrapped his strong arm around my shoulder.

I couldn't help but lean into him a little. In my defense, he smelled like apples and vanilla.

It wasn't that I liked him, because I had a boyfriend, but he seemed like a nice guy and I liked him.

"Do I look good like this?" I asked Chaeryeong a few hours later, when we were getting ready for the party.

"What? I'm sorry." She asked from her desk seat, where she stared unblinkingly at her laptop screen.

"Do I look okay?" I repeated, showing her my choice of clothing. She looked at me from head to toe and then returned her gaze to the screen.

"Sure, you look great!"

"And you? You're not getting dressed."

"Just one more minute, I'm checking Twitter."

"Okay."

I put on my strapless skirt and Superman short top. My belly button piercing was in full view and I still couldn't believe how I managed to keep it hidden from my mother for two years.
