Smiling
Smiling and smiling, you washed my fears away.
Coaxing my pain till it dissipated itself.
And tainting my dull world with yellows and blues.
My heart beamed, whenever your eyes bloomed into pretty cresents.
A melody- your voice, it became my favourite song.
The day you gave me your heart;
I wished to cradle it gently in my hands;
But my arms weren't strong enough to hold it,
For a reason I still didn't understand.
The impact was so unfathomable, I didn't know how to heal my wounds;
So I took a needle to sew them, thrusting it, only to create many more ugly scars.
Now the blood rushed like a river, staining everything it stroked;
The way it used to rush to my cheeks when I saw you.
The moon cried with (me) it's tears in the form of bright stars;
Filling the velvety night sky.
I knew that the sun will rise, and bring us morning one day;
But like a star in your elusive galaxy, I wanted to stay.
As long as I saw your crescent eyes, my heart smiled again at ease;
But like a fool frolicking on the streets, it still ached for you.
Now it was so gloomy;
The darkness didn't seem to fade,
So I burnt it all, and;
Smiling and smiling, I washed my tears away.

I wrote this recently and I was honestly very down when I wrote this as I may or may not have written this for a particular someone whom I absolutely loved at one point :(
Also yeah I took inspiration from still with you. I absolutely love that song!!
I also didn't know what to name this poem so I just titled it smiling lmao.
