Lily wishes she and Thomas had just made up a different excuse. It all really gets them, and Jake, into a mess. Not that Lily doesn't like seeing Jake in trouble for once. Thankfully though, no one knows about their hug afterward.
Jake, Thomas, Lily, and their parents are all at Lily's house. They learn that Jake's parents are completely unaware that Jake is a total Jerk at school and that Jake had really lied to them about most things. Lily's mom is down stairs, freaking out about whats happened. Lily's embarrassed, all of them are.
Thoma and Lily sit next to each other on the couch in her room and Jake sits across from them on her wooden desk chair. None of them speak a word, they communicate by the looks in their eyes.
I'd been in his arms. Lily recalls to herself. It had felt amazing, indescribable. She remembers the feeling of his chest against hers, something she could never get enough of. She wants to hug him again right now, but she knows it's not a good time for that.
Suddenly, the bed room door opens, breaking the silence.
"Come on down stairs. We're gonna talk." Lily's mom says. Thomas nods. He is the first to get up. Lily follows him, then Jake drags behind. No one could look into anyone's eyes.
Lily feels awkward, she knows she'll feel awkward around Jake of the rest of her life. Thomas only helped, there was nothing he should be worried about, but hating having all the attention on him, Lily knows he was nervous. Jake definitely needs to watch out the most. She can't imagine being in a room full of people that she'd wronged. She almost -almost- feels bad for Jake. No, not only does he deserve it, he needs it for once.
Jake leaves a huge space between him and Thomas while on the coach. On Thomas's left, Lily sits down.
"Alright. I wanna hear Thomas's side of the story." Jake's mother starts off. All the parents are siting in chairs directly in front of the kids.
Thomas looks up. He turns bright red.
"I.. I was digging in my locker and well, I here Jake and Lily talking. Not intentionally, but they were right next to me. He was asking her to go to his house after school and Lily assured him she didn't want to. But I think he kept pushing and chased her into an empty school room. I was just... watching out for her. She sounded stressed and nervous and kept trying to get away by saying 'back off.' When I got the chance, I just stood in between them and... and told him that Lily meant what she was saying, to back off and he told me it was none of my business. I just took Lily with me and walked away. I don't know what all happened in the room." He looks completely embarrassed and scared.
"Did anything happen after that?" Thomas's mom asks.
He looks up and then his face turns completely white.
"No." He lies. Had Jake seen them afterward and told the parents or was that not what they were talking about. Maybe they meant something else and still didn't know about the hug.
"Lily? Can I ask what happened in the room?" Jake's dad asks. Jake turns the darkest red Lily had ever seen anyone turn. Ever.
"He..." She can't say that.
"Do you wanna tell me in a different room?" Lily's mom pushes as always. Yep, she was doomed. She'd have to say it anyway.
"He tried to kiss me." Lily says quickly and flatly. She doesn't look up at anyone, so she doesn't know anyone's reactions. "I didn't let him. I scrambled away and ran out the door where Thomas helped me."
She has so many emotions, feeling like a tight pinch in her chest. They are the common high school kids. Always into to trouble.
"Ok. Let's just all head out back to our houses and we can decide for our selves what to do from here." Lily's mom says without moving. Jake's family is the first to go out the door. Thomas's mom and dad, strangely, haven't moved yet. Thomas gets up off the couch.
"Sit back down." His dad orders him. Hesitantly, with a confused look on his face, he sits back down next to Lily.
"Now that it's just us, we can talk about what did happen afterward." His dad says. Thomas and Lily looked at each other, their expressions blank.
