"So what did you get me as a thanks?" I ask, tearing apart some skewered meat while looking out at the massive sandy desert. We found some shade under a few palm trees.
"Oh! Right, I almost forgot."
He pulls out a small dried palm leaf and twine wrapped package from a pouch on one of his belts.
"Here, I hope this is enough. It's all I could find."
I take the package, it's smaller than my hand, and carefully unwrap it. An excitement fills me when I see 3 decent-sized shards of purple brackern husk, a round sliver of skallashi horn and two stalks of dried sairaja, a rare flowering plant only found in the expansive wastes of The Great Sai.
"This is incredible! There's enough here for two, maybe even three doses!"
"Really? That's good."
"How did you know what to get? Also, wasn't this much stuff really expensive?"
The blond rubs the back of his head and turns to look out at the ocean of sand. "I asked around town until I found someone who knew about tomb poisons. Don't worry about the price, I had some Securis left over from my last job. Anyways, you used all your antidote to save me, this is the least I could do to repay you. Now you can go to that tomb like you planned... just a bit behind schedule perhaps."
I carefully rewrap the package and tuck it securely away in one of my own belt pouches. I give him a quick hug. "Thank you! I'll be able to go now!" I really had been planning this trip for a while. Those ingredients really weren't cheap at all, whatever his last job was must have had a large payout.
I stand and brush the sand off my pants. I reach a hand out to Ezreal who is still sitting with a surprised expression on his face. "But first, I need to get to work! It takes almost half a day to make.. If we get back to the tavern quickly and I set everything up right away, the antidote can be distilled overnight. We could be ready to leave before noon tomorrow!"
I quickly pull my hand back, realizing what I just said. I unintentionally invited him along for the journey. "I-I mean, you don't need to go back to the tavern with me. I can do everything myself."
A cheeky grin appears on his face and he extends a hand towards me. "I'm in! Let's go!"
I take his hand and help him to his feet. We make a pit stop at the pharmacy on the way back to the tavern to buy some more glass vials and other supplies.
Alright, I guess we are going to the Tomb of the Nomads together now. This could be good. Or it could be bad. I don't remember the last time I ever went on an expedition with another person. It might be good to have an extra set of hands around due to the difficulty of the tomb. But I also don't know how he'll behave under stressful conditions. I really hope I won't regret this.

"Kind of like steeping tea."
"It's the same idea but the water is still boiling. Boil the sairaja in water for 20 minutes then strain out the stalks and any other solids. You will know it's done when the water is a dark brown."
I am currently using the tavern's kitchen stove (with Zeelo's permission of course). Ezreal is curiously watching over my shoulder and asking questions as I work. It's nice to have someone to talk to while waiting for water to boil. He also made himself useful by grinding the brackern husk and skallashi horn into fine powder, a tedious task I never enjoyed doing myself.
