We first see the large sandstone entrance to the underground tomb around mid morning. It is a tall stone archway carved into the base of a small sandstone mountain. Sand that has fallen down the side of the mountain has collected at the base and blocks half of the entryway. Although there are still nomads who roam the Sai Faraj, the Tomb of the Nomads hasn't been used in millennia due to the dangers waiting within. However, it is still used as a landmark.
We carefully descend the mountain to the entrance.
When we get to the bottom, Ezreal looks up at the head-high pile of sand. "Man, it took me so long to clear enough sand to get in last time."
He begins using his hands to push sand away from the entrance. Did he really move the sand by hand last time? That must have taken him hours. Also, doesn't the sand get into the gauntlet? Wouldn't that be uncomfortable?
I decide to be nice and let him save his energy. "Move back and shield your eyes."
"Huh? Oh, alright." He gets to his feet and stands behind me. He pulls his goggles down over his head.
I decide on what spell to use. I just need to clear enough sand for us to get in. Perhaps borrowing a little assistance from an old Shuriman guardian wind spirit will work. I raise my hand towards the mound of sand blocking the archway.
I begin mentally casting a spell: "Jan'ahrem sut-"
I don't even get a chance to complete the second word in my head before I feel a large influx of elemental magic. A strong wind quickly bursts through the entryway, clearing the entire mound of sand within a couple seconds.
"Wow! I knew you were good at healing but I guess you have an affinity to other elemental magic too. That's awesome!"
"But I-" I mutter in disbelief. It's what I wanted to happen, but I didn't even finish my spell casting.
"It looks like the whole corridor is cleared, let's go!" Ezreal exclaims and walks towards the archway.
Did I do that?
"Hey! Be careful! Do you want a repeat of last time?" I call after him.
He abruptly stops after passing through the archway and turns to face me, "aha, right. I forgot about that. But this time I can actually see the floor, I didn't see the traps under the sand, you know?"
I am starting to have my doubts about him again. I walk up next to him and turn on a flashlight. "Please, don't do anything stupid and watch your step."
"Can you use fire or light magic too?"
"I could, but I don't want to waste my mana."
He looks confused and points with his thumb towards the outside of the tomb. "That wind cast back there looked like it used a lot of mana."
I shrug, "not really actually." I point the flashlight around to illuminate the walls and floors of the corridor before walking further inside.
Now that I think about it, "how did you make it from here all the way back to Zeelo's without dying from the poison or blood loss?" I forgot to ask him about it before.
"I don't know. I was quite delirious from the poison. I remember exiting the tomb and walking for a few hundred paces when the sandstorm started. I honestly thought I was going to die. The next thing I remember was Zeelo basically dragging me inside his tavern. Then you showed up not long after." He pauses to think, "I honestly don't know, I'm just glad to be alive. So, I'm not going to question it too much."
"Maybe you have a spirit watching over you or something."
He chuckles, "maybe."
A wisp of wind brushes against my cheek. I turn to look back at the entryway where the breeze came from. I can hear the wind blowing abnormally outside the tomb, "do you hear that?"
