Y/n's POV...
The moment Chishiya and I stepped into our room I had serious questions. A woman with dreadlocks looked at us confused.
I turned to face him. "Explain this," I demanded.
He signed. "It's not what your thinking. This is Kuina, she's an acquaintance of mine..." He hesitated for a moment. "She's in on my plan. One I haven't told you about yet. And I wasn't going to tell you, at least not for a day or two."
I was confused, this woman was an acquaintance in this plan? One he didn't tell me about?
My voice was raw and wavered as I spoke, "What plan, Shuntaro?"
"I plan to get out of here, and steal all the cards, but I need someone as bait, who will be used in my plan." He told me calmly.
I didn't want to ask, but I needed to know, "Do I know who you're using as bait?"
He didn't meet my eyes. "Yes."
My voice was small now, "Who?"
"It's better if you don't know for now." He said honestly.
I felt tears stream down my face. Arisu, Karube, Chota... He planned on using them. Chishiya blocked the door so I couldn't leave the room. He didn't want me to go, he wanted me to understand. But I don't feel like understanding.
"Move out of my way."
"Y/n, you know I can't do that. Not when you're angry."
"The only thing that'll make me angrier than I already am, is if you don't move, right the hell now."
He looked like he wanted to protest. His eyes wavered for a moment before he signed and reluctantly stepped out of my way. I didn't wait for a second longer before leaving as long as I got away from him. At least I knew that room in the basement would be a nice escape.
Chishiya's POV...
The moment she was gone I moved over to the bed and sat down. I felt Kuina's eyes on me. "Who was that?" She asked me. I didn't answer her. Instead, I looked down at my hands.
Did I truly mess up this time? Did I push too far? I didn't even have to tell her who I wanted to use as bait for her to know. But was that a good thing? Or a bad thing? I love her, truly I do. How can I make her see that this is the only way?
"CHISHIYA!"
I flinched. "What Kuina?" I was irritated now, why'd she have to interrupt me?
"Who was that? That girl who was with you. I've never seen her around the Beach before."
"You wouldn't have... She arrived today."
"And you two know each other how?" Kuina asked, questioning me further.
"She's my wife," I stated honestly.
Kuina looked shocked. "Your wife?" I only nodded. Kuina stayed quiet for a moment before asking another question. "What's her name?"
"Y/n."
"How'd you meet?"
"Our parents arranged our marriage. Neither of us wanted it. But I grew to love her. Even though I never showed it. I suppose I didn't know how. I mean, I knew nothing about her or their love. I've been there for even the worst... Before we came here our parents had been pushing us to make their grandbabies. But we never did it unless I was upset or stressed. I never cared about it, and neither did she. But her father is a vile man, worse than mine in many ways." I knew that, but why haven't I done anything about that before? I truly am a horrible husband.
"That's a lot to take in. But I'm still shocked that you have a wife." Kiuna said.
"Why is that a surprise?"
"Well, it's you. You don't seem like the kind of person who knows how to woo a woman. So the arranged marriage bit makes sense, in a way."
"I'm aware you know. I'm aware I can't woo and be passionate about others easily. I also know that I don't deserve someone like Y/n. Though I truly love her, I do. I just don't know how to show it. But she'll be back, she always comes back in the end. So I'm not worried."
"You're not? Also, who exactly will be good for our plan?"
"I have a feeling you'll meet them soon enough. So don't worry about that for now." I didn't mind the sudden change in topic, but I need to understand wooing more so that when Y/n comes back I'll have a better idea of what to do. "Kuina, what I'm about to ask you remains here, and if I hear you told someone else you'll regret it."
"Um, okay, what is it?"
"How do you woo a woman?"
She laughed. Soon enough she finally calmed down. "You want to woo Y/n?"
"It would be helpful."
"Now I can see why you don't want this getting out, it's hysterical."
"How so?" I was curious now.
"Well, like I said before you don't seem like the type to try and woo a girl. So the fact that your asking is pretty damn funny." it was blunt, but straight to the point.
"Just help me."
"Fine, try doing things she likes."
"Books?"
"Why is there a question mark after that!?" Kuina exclaimed angrily.
"Because I'm not sure. She read a lot of books at our apartment, but I was gone a lot so maybe she just got bored and read a lot."
"Chishiya, I'm only going to say this once. Try harder to impress her and she might forgive you."
"Might?"
"Yes, might. Now stop complaining and start brainstorming on how to woo her. I gave you advice take it or leave it." Kuina got up and left. I was seriously questioning her advice. Not that I'd ever tell her that.
But at least she let me be alone for this. She'd nitpick at every suggestion.
Y/n's POV...
Why'd he have to be like this? Why couldn't he figure something out without using my newfound friends? Why was Chishiya like, well, like how he is? Argh! It was so frustrating. I wish his plan didn't involve them.
Did he really say that? No, of course not. But it was in his eyes and what he sort of was saying. Ugh, why was he so frustrating? Of course, he's gonna use my friends for his plan. Because that's the way he is. Chishiya a man of many things. Conniving, rude, emotionless, careless.
