I woke up to the sound of the rooster crying out. I tried to go back to sleep but the window was open and the sun was shining right in my face. I sat up right and the covers fell of my body leaving me in my bra and panties. I got up and opened up the drawer to get fresh clothes and a night gown. I put the night gown on and went outside to pump water into the bucket for my morning bath. As I pumped I looked around and saw the village was starting to wake up. I could see bakers making the bread for the afternoon sail. Farmers were getting the eggs from the chickens, and black Smiths started collection wood to make a huge fire to make and fix swords and daggers. When I was done I went inside and poured the water into the metal pot. Once it started to steam up I carried it to the bath and took my shower. When I got out I had on some leather pants and regular white cotton shirt. Most girls would prefer dresses with pretty colors and patterns but I prefer pants. It's easier for my tail to be out because with dresses it's hard to have your tail out so most girls don't, but I like my tail and ears. It feels comfortable being half me and half my leopard. Another perk of having pants is that it's easier when I hunt, dresses can get caught on twigs and other things. That's why I wear pants I think dresses are stupid especially for hunting, more so in human form instead of leopard. Most girls would rather have a father, brother, or boyfriend hunting for them, so not like it matters. Also most girls think of it as a dirty job because of all the blood but I've gotten used to it. Mostly since I lived alone since I was ten, and I learned to do a lot of things by myself. I walked out my cottage and headed straight for Gaby's, my best friend's, house that was in the middle of the village. Her family liked to be very active around the village so they chose to live by the center to help out whenever possible. Everyone knew them especially Gaby because she was more like me than her family, a rebel. We always got in trouble together, either for something small like scarring cattle or big like burning down a cottage. (But in our defense it was an accident) I walked to the town square passing villages shopping and leopards with their morning kill in their mouth. When I was half way there I saw Gaby running my way, she was wearing a hood that covered her face, but I could tell it was her. We were friends since we were 5. I was about to say hi until she saw me and screamed "run!". Then behind her I saw to Panthers chasing her, so I turned and ran at a supernatural speed. 10 seconds later I was 5 km outside of town. 2 seconds later Gaby came up and leaned against a tree. "What you do this time" I asked with an eyebrow raised in her direction. "Nothing!" She stated while stomping and turning her head to the right. My face still had the same expression, because I knew she would brake, she always did. "Okay!! Sheesh. I might have, maybe, accidentally completely destroyed someone's food stand! Happy Crystal!!" Gaby admitted while looking down. "Really, wow. How that happened?" I asked while she took off her hood. Under her hood she had peach skin like me and forest green eyes. My eyes were an icy blue and I had platinum blonde hair and Gaby's was black. When I asked her entire face went so red I thought she might blush out of existence. "Never mind that, how are?" She asked. I knew she was trying to change the subject, but I let it slide. I'd find out later, usually always did. "I was gonna ask if you are, I wanted to go hunting. I haven't eaten, soo . . . . Can you?" I asked. "I'm not sure, I actually have to do something important" she stated with her cheeks coloring a little. "Pleeeeaaaase" I wined with my famous puppy dog eyes. She didn't even last three seconds before she sighed and said "fine". At the same time we shifted to our leopards, yellow smoke surrounded us and when it disappeared we stood there as leopards. Mine was white with very little black sprinkled around my body. Gaby's was all black and her fur looked shiny and soft. Mine was just fluffy, and it looked the same in my half
human/leopard form. In my half form I looked like myself but with white ears on top of my head and a tail. Gaby was same except she had white fur. We stretched our legs a little before we took of at top speed. We were on the hunt for 5 minutes when we found our prey. It's was a deer big enough for both of us and still have enough meat left for us to sell. We split up as it are, I took the right and Gaby the left. I hid behind some bushes and Gaby used her fur as an advantage and hid in the shadows. We were both pretty far so if we jumped out now it would run away and we loose it. The best option was for one of us to scare it in the others direction and have the kill it. I looked over the bushes and at Gaby, I could tell she was thinking the same thing. I gave a nod in her direction and we both duct back down, then I jumped out and gave a loud roar. It scared the deer and it ran in Gaby's direction without it noticing her. When it was close enough she jumped out of the shadows and locked her mouth around it's neck. The force of the jumped and Gaby's body knocked it to the ground, it struggled for a while until Gaby snapped it neck killing it instantly. I was walking towards her until I stopped dead in my tracks. I could hear wings flapping and not small one, big ones like the ones of werehawks. I turned around to see a man in black coming my way fast, but before I could dodge he kicked me so hard I was sent flying back. I hit a tree hard and fell to the ground. I was about to go unconscious but before I did I saw the man land, take out a crossbow from between his wings, and point it in Gaby's direction. Before I could see anything more my eyes rolled back into my head and the last thing I heard was a loud roar.
