Langston left school happy to be a tenth grader, a sophomore because that meant he could leave school for lunch. Now, it's not that he didn't like the school lunch. He just sometimes wanted something else to eat. But he always made sure to come back and eat in the lunchroom. So that's where he was headed for right now, to get his food and come right back.

"Been thinking about this all day." Langston skipped out of school and down the front steps. He didn't know he was walking so fast until he stood before the cashier at the counter, placing his order. Before long, he was walking down the hill towards the school doors again.

"Hey man, you think you could let me in?"The eager boy was startled, to say the least, as he turned his head, seeing a boy about his age sitting on the steps. He had a book bag dangling from his thighs and lap. The boy looked at him expectantly, "Please?"

Langston looked away and thought for a bit before nodding, slipping his hand into his jeans pocket and pulling out his student ID. He waited on the top step as the boy stood up and stood next to him. The two walked over to the school doors and headed inside. When they entered the school building, they passed by the front office. Langston grabbed the pen and clipboard to sign himself back in and scanned his ID so it could be documented on the school's computer that he returned and when he did.

The boy stood quietly next to him, watching his actions. When he was done and saw he was about to walk away, he took hold of his sleeve, "Stay with me." He came over to stand next to him. The secretary came towards the two with a bright smile, "How can I help you both?" She stood behind the mahogany desk, waiting to help the two boys.

The boy placed his book bag on the desk and began to unzip it.
"I am supposed to give these to you, I guess." He explained as he handed her a stack of papers inside a folder. She nodded her head as she skimmed through the documents. After she moved about the office, the stack became smaller and smaller. "You're all set." She handed him the folder as she reached down underneath the desk, "Just stand against that wall for me." He looked to where she was pointing and quickly removed his hat, placing it and the folder in his bag before handing it to Langston.

He set himself against the bare backdrop, fixing his clothing before looking forward and around the woman, directing his eyes to the boy behind her, "How I look?" without missing a beat, "So good." That made him smile and helped him have a genuine smile in his picture.

He thanked her as he examined his picture, nodding as she rattled off the rules of the student ID to him

He thanked her as he examined his picture, nodding as she rattled off the rules of the student ID to him. He thanked her once more before he left the office, Langston following closely behind him. He stepped with him, handing him his bag, "I thought you were smiling and facing forward." Julian chuckled, "I know I changed it at the last minute." Langston nodded and felt the bottom of his food bag, happy it was still hot. He couldn't wait to eat.

"Look, I'll personally show you to your locker after lunch, but I need to eat right now. You can come with me, and meet my friends! So what do you say?" Langston waited for him to answer.

The boy had placed his book bag on his back, "Lead the way."
