"Okay Cinema Club we are now in session, welcome. I'll tell you a little bit about ourselves. We are a sanctioned after-school activity. One social rung below the glee club and two above the Nintendo Wii Fit Club..." Charlie says walking up the rows of the classroom filled with the students of Cinema Club.
Gracie reaches into her bag and pulls out a packet of fruit snacks. She tears it open and whispers to Wes, "You want some?"
"Sure" he whispers, grabbing and tossing a gummy in his mouth. Gale taps them both to force them to pay attention to Charlie's speech.
"... and let me just say to our guest Sidney Prescott, it's an honor" Charlie says, taking his spot at the front of the room as the room applauded.
"Thanks, I guess." Sidney says
The boys look between each other for what to say next but are speechless.
"So you film your entire high school experience and what? Post it on the net? " Sidney says pointing to the headset.
"Everyone will be doing it someday" The headset boy, Robbie says.
"It's kind of the one component the killer is missing," Charlie says.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Gale says, stepping away from the kids.
"Well, if you want to be the 'new' new version, the killer should be filming the murders." Charlie says.
"It's like the natural next step in psycho slasher innovation. I mean you film them all in real time and then before you get caught you upload them into cyberspace" Robbie adds.
"Making your art as immortal as you," Charlie says.
"Not to implicate you" Charlie and Robbie say together.
"Your art? What, have they gone crazy?" Gracie whispers to Wes.
"I don't know, but they are super sketchy. Promise you'll stay away from them?" Wes says.
"Only if you promise too." Gracie says.
Wes hold out his pinkie, "We both don't die"
Gracie links his pinkie, "We both don't die.
Wes takes a deep breathe, "I just don't want to lose my best friend"
"Come on Wes, you're not going to and I'm not losing my best friend either. I need you, idiot"
Sidney interrupts, "So who do you think is behind the murders?"
"Well, it's a stab fanatic. Clearly working on less of a shriek-uel and more of a scream-make" Charlie says.
"Copyright terms, by the way" Robbie adds
"Because all there are now are remakes. It's the only horror studio's green light." Charlie says as Robbie walks around the classroom with his headset.
"Hey" Kirby says, getting Sidney's attention as she lifts her phone to show the livestream coming from the headset.
The video falls upon Gracie and she makes a grossed out face as she pushes the camera out of her face, covering it until Robbie walks away. Gale and Sidney let out a little laugh before bringing their attention back to Charlie.
"... I mean there are still rules but the rules have changed. The expected is the new cliche" Charlie says.
"Yeah you have to have an opening scene that blows the doors off, dial up some flashy music, video direction, and the kills have to be way more extreme" Robbie says walking back up to the front of the classroom.
"Modern audiences get savvy to the rules of the originals so the reversals become the new standards. In fact the only true way to survive a modern horror movie, you pretty much have to be gay." Charlie says
"So why are you so sure the killer's working by the rules of a horror remake?" Gale says
"Well the original stab movie structure is pretty apparent." Robbie says
"Two kids killed in a house well their parents are away" Charlie says
"And the schools 'hot chick' savaged beyond recognition" Robbie adds.
"We all know where it goes from there..." Charlie says
"A party" Sidney says and Charlie points to her.
"Exactly, a party. Guaranteed third act main cast bloodbath." Charlie says
"Fingers crossed for some nudity for a change" Robbie says as a few people in the class agree.
"So do you know what party is happening tonight?" Gale says walking towards Charlie and Robbie.
"Well there's Stab-a-thon." Charlie says
"Stab-a-thon?" Sidney stands up and walks toward them.
Wes looks out the window and sees his Mom's police car pulling up, "I got to go, my mom's here. Do you want to come over to my house?"
Gracie looks over to her mom to ask but she is too busy, "I don't think I can tonight. Maybe another time?"
"Of course" Wes says as they do their secret handshake and he walks out of the classroom.
Gracie walks over and stands at her moms side as Charlie says, "it's a movie marathon, all seven stab movies back to back. We do it every year."
"Tonight? But there's a killer on the loose patterning the murders after the original movie." Sidney says
"I know, it's pretty wild," Charlie says with a smile.
"More like pretty sick" Grace says grossed out.
"I didn't ask for an eight year olds opinion," Charlie said angrily.
"You have to call it off," Sidney says concerned.
"Um okay, but it's friday. I'm sure we aren't the only party that's going on in Woodsboro tonight." Robbie says.
"Where is this 'circle jerk' going to take place tonight?" Gale says
Grace looks around confused and everyone avoids her eye contact, not wanting to explain to the young girl. Kirby even lifted her hand to cover her eyes.
"So... who's ready for this Q and A" Charlie says avoiding the question.
"No, I really want the location" Gale says
"You know, it's kind of an underground thing, email invites. It's pretty secret" Charlie says
"What are you not going to tell me? Really? We're working together, remember?" Gale says, looking into the boy's eyes.
"So... Q and A" Charlie says ignoring her
"Fuck you. Let's go." Gale says, pulling Sidney and Gracie out of the classroom.
"That was awesome" Charlie says after Gale slams the door shut.
