We walked through the halls. Only It felt dead. Lifeless. Silent.
Silence is always a problem. It means the only thing I can do is think, which in some cases it's helpful, but not then. All I could do was panic, let my mind make up the most bizarre things possible, and given the circumstances I was in, I believed them a lot easier. I seemed to hold it together quite well on the outside, on the inside, though, I was a nervous wreck.
"So...." Ben broke the silence, scaring the shit out of me in the process, "Do you have any memory of how or why you're here at all?"
"No, and I'm guessing you don't either."
"Nope, do you have any idea what your talent is yet?" Ben asked again. I could tell he was trying to make some form of small talk, probably to stop with the awkward silence and maybe to be a bit comforting. It wasn't very helpful but I appreciated he was trying, although I could tell he couldn't think of much to say.
"Not a clue. Plus, my head is still killing me, I can't think straight at all let alone try to recall stuff." Ben stayed silent. Shit, does it sound like I'm having a go at him? "Sorry if I sound like I'm being an arse."
"Oh, don't worry, not at all. We're both stressed anyway, so it's understandable if you're getting a bit heated;" He rubbed his eyes intensely, "yeah, so honestly don't worry at all."
"Cheers, you too." I gave a small smile and started to loosen up a bit, I had no idea how tensed up I was, "So, Ultimate Pilot, how'd you get that title?"
"Oh, nothing impressive, just aced my training and was virtually flawless as they put it."
"Sounds pretty impressive to-" Something's off. I could hear our footsteps as we walked through the halls. "Stop." We both stopped walking, but the footsteps continued. "Someone else is here."
As the footsteps got louder, a shadow began to emerge from around the corner. We both stepped back as a figure followed after the shadow. He looked about the same age as us and was wearing a typical school uniform.
"There you are." he groaned as if he'd been searching for us for an eternity.
"Um, do we know you?" I asked, puzzled.
"No, but I'm guessing you two are Hope's Peak students, correct?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Good, finally. Follow me, I've been searching around this labyrinth of a school for ages" Completely ignoring what I asked. He turned back and started heading off. "Hurry up."
Me and Ben looked at each other and shrugged, then proceeded to follow after him.
