Prologue

My name is Annabeth Chase, Daughter of Athena, and I've lost hope. When you believe or actually know your love is dead, you lose all hope. It's been 9 months, 4 days, 8 hours, 32 minutes, 59 seconds. I turned my back for 5 minutes to do something and when I came back, he was gone. With Gaea's threats against his life, there would be monsters everywhere! With every memory, every thought, the sound of his voice in my head, it makes me want to cry my pain out. I don't know what I can do anymore.
I'm just living in pain, guilt, and misery. I'm so tired. Im hungry. Everyone is yelling at me. I've started cutting. My mother found out. Tried to help but failed. Thalia is mad at me. She can't help. Athena can't help. Not even Apollo himself can help me! Unless someone can bring him back, I might as well be dead! I can't focus. I can barely breathe. I can't sleep without nightmares about how he could've died. There's only one way to stop everything. Die.

Present day

I was just lying on my bed in the Athena cabin. I was alone. All my siblings were doing activities. Good. I got up and went to the bathroom. I got the razors from under the sink. I pulled my sleeve down and looked at my scarred arm. It eases my pain. I pressed the cold razor blade to my wrist. Then the rest of my arm. I know what I am. Every truth causes another slice and spilt blood.
Every word of truth brings more pain.
