Loving. Trusting. Allowing herself to feel again turned out to be all she'd imagined. All she'd hoped for. The past lives, the time in Hell and the battle with Eve had proven to be worth it.
Tatum watched Ian sleep, his beautiful face relaxed, his lips slightly parted. She never grew tired of watching him, being with him. And after Edan grew in strength, the world around them was perfect. She smiled, rising naked from the bed, taking in another beautiful morning through the window, the sunbeams turning the room golden. Gone was Eve and the torment she caused. And after weeks of learning about one another, gone was the skittishness they once shared.
And in its place was a warm contentment that she'd never had.
Her body was still sore from Ian's passionate lovemaking, something they never grew bored with. They were drawn to one another like fire to kindling. However, lately her original side began pushing her...
As she opened the door, Ian's eyes opened, leveling on her glorious backside right away. As if sensing him, she glanced at him from over her shoulder, her pale eyes still having the ability to steal his breath after all that time together.
"Do you want me, doc," she asked in their ancient tongue. The vision of her, the smirk on her face and the drawl of her tone made his body go hot, and he raised up on his elbow, knowing full well what she was about to do. The hunter within stirred and merged with his lust.
"Yes," he finally responded, his voice deep, rich with need. His hard stare made her catch her , and she shrugged teasingly.
"I wonder how much."
"Run, Tatum. Run fast. Run far. But no matter where you go, I will find you."
With fire in her eyes, she spun and fled, her laughter echoing in the early morning air. On a growl, he rose, walking into the sunlight, absorbing its warmth and her need of him. She was just as much his as he was hers, and in this place, bright with life, none of it would matter without her by his side.
Lilith was his wife. His love, and although The Father hadn't made Himself known in these past weeks, there were times Ian was certain he'd sensed Him watching. But he left them alone, and Ian was relieved, for never again would he allow anyone or anything to come between them.
Not women, angels, serpents, or demons.
And not God.
Perhaps the celestials knew that, and didn't wish to fight about it anymore, or perhaps none of them cared, washing their hands of the originals, Ian didn't know. But if they came for them, he and his wife would fight them...
Together.
Always together.
