*Y/n's POV*
*time skips to after the final gambit*
I was just chilling in the bedroom in my wing, scrolling on my phone and stuff. It was raining outside. I've always loved the rain. Since I was a kid, my parents always told me stories about when they were teenagers. But when they divorced, I never saw them again. They had sent me to Hawthorne house, for Tobias Hawthorne to raise me. But I never played his games, If I didn't want to then I shouldn't be forced to. I have lived here since I was tweleve, if talking about the duration, it is about 7 years. The thought about my past stopped when I heard a knock at my door.
"James?" I called out to my guard.
"It's Grayson." He answered.
"Let him in." I said.
James opened the door to my wing, and I let Grayson into my bedroom. He was drenched in water. His suit jacket was off, and he was dripping wet. When he saw me, his expression shifted, like he was surprised, or even embarrassed, I didn't address that, but I kept it in mind.
"I'm sorry-" I cut him off.
"What are you doing at this time at night, and why are you dripping wet?" I asked him.
"It was the rain-" He was cut off. Again.
"I know about the rain." I said. A hint of accusation in my tone. "What I'm asking is, why didn't you change or take a shower or something before deciding to knock on my door?" I was starting to get frustrated now, did he not have water access in his room or something?
"I'm sorry, the shower in my wing bursted, Mr.Laughlin is fixing it. In the meantime, since you don't want me dripping wet with rain, can I use your shower?" That was a ridiculous question, why not use one of the guest bathrooms? I brushed that thought off.
"Fine, but, can you grab some clothes you can change in first? I'm not gonna do that for you." It was true, I was not gonna rummage through his closet.
"Consider it done." He said. Something in his tone made me feel like a highschool girl talking to her crush for the first time. I didn't like that. I kept reminding myself of my promise to myself 'never fall for a Hawthorne again'. But my treacherous eyes couldn't resist following him as he walked out of my room.
After he walked out, I went back into my bed, then I thought about how he looked at me when I opened the door for him. Why did he look at me like that? Then I realised, he saw me in my nightgown, Grayson never did, and he might not have expected me to look at ease with him in my room in the middle of the night. I wondered if he actually came to my room on purpose or if he just didn't have anywhere else to go. I pondered that for minutes. That thought stopped abruptly when he stepped into the room. I sat up.
"Spare towels are in the drawer under the sink." I said out of pure instinct. Pointing to the direction of the bathroom.
"Oh, yeah, thank you." He also sounded like he'd been deep thinking. He started to walk to the bathroom.
"Uhh, Grayson?" I called. Why was it so hard to talk properly in front of him?
"Yes?" He turned around.
"Can you use the shower on your right? That's my spare shower."
"Sure." He didn't even ask why. That was a relief. There were too many 'ladies stuff' in the other shower.
I waited until he closed the door to collapse into my bed and sigh, and realized: "I have a crush on Grayson Hawthorne." I said out loud.
