The Sacred Pendant

Chapter 8

"OK...You're kidding, right?" Chi asked after Celine narrated what happened the previous night.
"I wish I was but I'm not. All that I said is true, " Celine said.
"It's only one place I've heard of something like what you've just told me before, " Chi said.
"Where?" Celine asked, surprised.
"In movies, duh!" Chi said. "What you just told me is unbelievable."
"I know and that's the reason why I didn't want to tell you. I thought you might not believe me, " Celine said.
"Just because I said it's unbelievable doesn't mean I don't believe it, " Chi said matter-of-factly.
"What do you mean?" Celine asked.
"Babe, come on! If I can believe that your aunt is a real witch, then what makes you think I can't believe that a pendant you took from a fountain gave you supernatural powers. But, of course, your aunt is not a witch, " Chi quickly added when Celine gave her an excuse-me-my-aunt-is-not-a-witch look.
"It didn't really give me supernatural powers. It -,"
"Oh please! Your pyjamas turned into a warrior suit and your eyes glowed green. Of course, there's something more to it, " Chi said.
"May be, but I don't know for sure, " Celine said.
"Show me, " Chi said.
"Show you what?" Celine asked.
"Your warrior costume and your green eyes."
"I don't know how to bring it out. It came on its own accord last night."
"Come on, there as to be a way. May be you should close your eyes and concentrate. Concentration always brings out the hidden powers in superheroes, " Chi said.
"First of all, that's in movies. Second, I'm no superhero and how can I be sure there's something, like some power, in me? " Celine said.
"You can never know until you try, " Chi said and smiled.
     Chi's smile made Celine happy. Her smile had a way of getting into people and keeping them at ease.
"So we are friends now?" Celine asked.
"Let me think about it, " Chi said. "I've thought about it and yes, we are friends once again."
Celine hugged her tightly. "Thank you."
"No problem, Celine. I should thank you for telling me the truth, " Chi said and hugged her back.
"OK, " Chi said, releasing Celine, "Now let's try and see if anything happens."
"OK, " Celine said. "But I don't know what to do."
"Try closing your eyes and being at ease, " Chi said and Celine laughed.
"What's so funny? Just do it, OK?"
"OK, " Celine said and closed her eyes. She tried relaxing but after a few seconds, nothing was happening.
"Nothing's happening, " Celine said, opening one of her eyes.
"Close your eyes and try thinking of something that makes you happy - I think that works in movies - or somebody you wish to see. I don't know, " Chi said helplessly.
Somebody I wish to see, Celine thought and immediately, the picture of her mother came into her mind.
Mum.
"OMG! " Chi exclaimed and Celine opened her eyes. She looked at Chi and saw her eyes widened in disbelief. Celine looked at herself and saw that it was happening again.
     Her school uniform was gone and the tight green jumpsuit, black boots, leather belt and helmet were back. Celine looked at Chi again. She expected to see Chi freaking out but she wasn't at all. Her face was filled with obvious amazement.
"You look gorgeous! G for gorgeous, G for green, " Chi shrieked excitedly.
"Lower your voice, Chi. We don't want to give any student passing by the reason to spy on us, " Celine said.
"Don't worry, people hardly use this restroom because it's far from the classes. They prefer the ones close by and stress-free, " Chi assured.
"Still, we should be quiet, " Celine said.
"This is amazing. I have a friend that's supernatural," Chi said, grinning from ear to ear.
"So you are not freaked out? Because I was freaked out the first time it happened and I'm still freaking out, " Celine said.
"Freaked out? Hell no! I'm mind blown, Celine, " Chi said.
"So what powers do you think I have? That's if I have any," Celine said.
"Your eyes are green! It makes you look super hot," Chi said.
"Chi, focus! "
"OK, OK. Just try doing something with... Let's say with your hands. Try doing something with your hands or anything."
     Celine shook her hands.
"Nothing's happening."
"Celine, look at your hands," Chi said almost in a whisper, surprised.
     Celine looked at her hands and saw that they were now glowing green. Something like fire, but green, surrounded her hands.
"What's this? " Celine asked, freaking out.
"I think it's fire, but green, and it isn't burning you, " Chi said, amazed.
     Celine, out of fear, swung her hand carelessly towards Chi's direction and a big green fireball came out of her palm. Chi ducked quickly. The fireball missed her head by an inch and blasted the wall.
"Ah!!! " Celine shrieked loudly. She rushed and squatted next to Chi.
"Chi, are you alright? " Celine asked, alarmed.  The thought of her almost killing her friend made her blood shiver.
"Am I alright?" Chi said, covering her face. Celine got scared thinking that Chi might have became angry with her again.
"Chi, I'm -"
"I've never felt better! " Chi shrieked happily, raising up her head.
     Celine looked at Chi. There was no sign of anger or shock on her face. She was obviously excited.
"That was amazing!" Chi said, holding Celine's shoulders.
Have I accidentally turned my friend mad?
"I almost killed you, Chi!" Celine said.
"But you didn't, " Chi said, grinning from ear to ear.
"Ehm... OK, " Celine said confused.
She isn't angry but obviously excited. That's what I want, so who am I to complain, Celine thought.
"You did a great job on the wall though, " Chi said, looking behind her.
     Celine looked at the wall. The whole wall was broken down. The force of the blast even left cracks on the ceiling.
"Let's get out of here, Celine, " Chi said, standing up hurriedly.
"Why? " Celine asked and stood up too.
"There's no way no one wouldn't have heard the sound of that blast. We need to get out of here before someone comes and begins questioning us on what happened, " Chi said and immediately, the restroom door swung open. Celine and child turned quickly to the door and gasped.
