The Sacred Pendant

Chapter 14

Celine inhaled sharply.
     She lose her balance but luckily, Don was close enough to her. He had been watching and observing Celine, so as soon as she lose her balance, he quickly caught her.
     Celine held on to Don's shoulders. Her eyes met his and she stared. Celine could still hear the voice, her mother's voice, calling her but she didn't want to concentrate on it. She was in Don's arms. She could feel his palm holding her firmly on her lower back and his other hand on he upper back. She could perceive the sweet fragrance coming from his skin. Celine didn't care about the voice anymore. She only wanted one thing. She wanted to kiss him.
"Celine, " Don called and it jolted Celine back to her senses, "are you alright?"
"Ehm...yes. Yes, I'm fine, " Celine said, wishing Don wouldn't take his hands off her. But he did.
     Don helped Celine stand straight and let go of her.
"Are you sure? What happened?" Don asked.
     Celine was amazed to see Don worried and concerned about her. It made her really happy. She felt like throwing herself on him and kiss him deeply.
"I'm fine, " Celine said, "I don't understand what happened either. I know I heard a voice, like that of my mother's."
"Your mother was calling you?" Don asked.
"I think so, " Celine said. The voice was gone. She could no longer hear it.
"You should have concentrated on the voice or may be follow it. That could have helped bring out your powers, " Don said.
"I tried to do that but -," Celine paused. She realized she would be stupid to tell Don what really happened.
"I'll try again, " She said, hoping Don would not ask "But what?"
"May be you just need to relax," Don said. He placed his hands on Celine's cheeks and raised her face up to his. Celine was dazed. She felt like falling down to her knees. She could feel his hands all over her body again and it made her body tingle.
     Though her heart was palpitating, she still felt relaxed. Her mind was at ease. Celine closed her eyes and she could hear the voice again.
     The voice kept on calling her name. And as it got closer and closer, Celine noticed that the tone of the voice was like one calling for help. Her mother sounded terrified. But then Celine listened closely and found out that it wasn't her mother calling her anymore. It was Chi!
"Chi!" Celine screamed aloud, releasing herself from Don. He quickly covered her mouth with his palm.
"Keep that up and you will wake up the entire house," Don said in a whisper.
"Don, " Celine said softly, lowering her gaze.
     Don followed her gaze. Celine's pyjamas was gone and the green warrior suit he had seen on her back in the restroom was on her body. He looked at her and saw she was already wearing a black helmet. Don stared at her, amazed. Celine smiled delightfully underneath Don's palm(He was still covering her mouth). Don let go of Celine and took few steps backward.
"You look super hot, " Don said, looking all over Celine's body. Her cheeks turned red.
OMG! Did Don just say I look hot? Super hot? Celine wanted to jump about and scream excitedly but she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of Don. So she swallowed hard, tried to comport herself and hide her feelings.
"Th-th-thanks, " Celine stuttered, with her eyes staring at her boots and her fingers scratching the back of her neck.
Someone is blushing, Don thought
"So Chi, what do we do now? Try to see if you can find that Vanzella," He said.
"OK," Celine said, finding it hard to look at Don in the eye.
     She didn't know how she knew what to do but Celine held her helmet. She closed her eyes tightly and concentrated on the sounds around her.
     Not long, Celine quickly opened her eyes and looked at Don, excited.
"I know where they are!" Celine beamed.
"Really? How?" Don asked, impressed.
"I don't know. I just know I know where they are, " Celine said, the excitement clear in her voice.
"Great! So where are they?" Don asked.
"I'll take us there, " Celine beamed.
"No, wait. We have to first come up with a plan, " Don said but Celine wasn't listening. Don had complimented her earlier and now he was impressed that she knew where Chi was. These made Celine unable to think clearly. She wanted him to compliment her again. She wanted him to see she wasn't useless. So it made Celine jump into a thoughtless conclusion. She held on to Don's hand and teleported him and herself to where Chi and Vanzella was.
