"Allow me to refresh you on the rules." Mr.McCannon, the head director of this asylum said while you were glancing over the file one last time.
Your expertise had been requested from all the way across the state to begin treating Louisiana's most notorious murderer. From your understanding a handful of other local professionals had tried to offer their assistance; but through one method or another, Alastor had managed to convince them all to quit on him. Either out of fear or hopelessness.
Alastor was a rather special case. For nearly a decade of his life he went unnoticed and beloved in his day to day. A well known radio host living his best life, adored by many fans, hell he even donated to charities. No one would have known that he was also one of New Orleans deadliest citizens; having brutally slaughtered handfuls of people. Violent, heinous, and admittedly very creative methods that seemed to make headlines every time another body was found.
He likely would have continued the murders had he not been gunned down while in the midst of a kill. Being mistaken for an animal, a hunter had shot him and wound up wounding him. He was arrested shortly after he was treated at the hospital, and sent to trial for his crimes.
You were one of the best in your field, and this wasn't your first encounter with the criminally insane. In fact, this wasn't even your second or third time. You had confidence you could work with him.
"You are not to give him anything." He started. "You are not to touch him, and we advise that you keep your distance from him at all times. If you chose to ignore these protocols, we at Red Valley Asylum are not responsible for whatever injuries you may -and probably will- receive. Which you already know and consented to when you signed the forms upon your arrival. However, rest assured that an armed guard will be within earshot at all times should you need any assistance."
You glanced over and nodded politely as he lead you down the long white hallway. The sound of your shoes and his gently clicking along the freshly cleaned tiles. He lead you around the corner and down, down, down to the very last room at the end of the ward.
"We also advise you to not dive into any personal information about yourself. Do not answer any informal questions, and take any of his efforts to get a rise from you with a grain of salt. Do you understand, Dr. L/n?"
"Mr. McCannon I can assure you my relationships with patients are strictly professional and shall remain as such." You assured him. "This isn't my first time treating a malignantly manipulative patient."
He gave you a smile and a nod. "That's why we asked for you."
The door he brought you to was solid, grey metal with a small window to peer into. Through the dingy glass you could make out a man with jaw length auburn hair seated in a straight jacket at a metal table. "Good luck, Dr. L/n." Mr.McCannon said. "And may god be with you..."
