A few weeks later...
Zayn watched out of his office window with a light frown. From his floor, he could see the city stretched out beneath him with people living their lives, commuting to their jobs, making choices and living to the best of their abilities.
However, despite focusing on the people below, his mind was somewhere else. What an odd few weeks it have been and he shouldn't be feeling this excited about someone he knew nothing about. He was...for a lack of a better word.. intrigued. A question kept popping into his head and he couldn't find a way to silence it.
For the past two, almost three, weeks Zayn had been watching Harry wander around his garden. Everyday, around the same hour, Zayn would happen to be awake in time to see Harry walk in his garden. The CEO found it so odd, that he couldn't look away. He wasn't alarmed. Nor wasn't he afraid that Harry would do something suspicious. He was just...curious about the entire scenario.
Zayn wondered what could be going on in Harry's mind that late at night. Was he looking for something or someone? What could bear him with such heaviness that took him away from a sound sleeping night?
His walks weren't long, either - just a few strolls around his garden, sometimes wandering far out from sight but coming back moments later. Always in silence and alone. Sometimes Harry would hum or whistle a soft tune, but it was almost a ghost-like type of scenario.
And Zayn couldn't stop peeking from behind his bedroom curtains.
It intrigued him very much! It wasn't like Harry couldn't walk at night! He could...Zayn just wanted to know why.
The CEO was too far away thinking and conjuring in his mind, not hearing that his friend and CFO had been calling for a solid two minutes now.
A slam echoed in the room, loud enough to make him jump out of his skin.
"Hi!" Niall called him with a smile. "Nice to see you back on planet Earth."
"You scared me."
"I've been calling you for a while now. Were you listening?" Zayn turned back to the window, trying to control his palpitating heart. "Clearly not. What's bothering you? Is it a meeting?"
"No," Zayn responded, not listening to his friend. "You know Harry?"
Niall paused, and then Zayn turned to him. "Your driver?"
"Yes. Did you know that, every night, he goes out for a walk? Like ... some sort of midnight stroll. Out in the garden."
"He does?"
"Yeah, just...goes out. A few turns around the garden then goes back to his room."
"And that's a problem?"
"No, not a problem, I just find it...curious."
"Well...have you asked him?"
"Asked what?"
"Why does he go on these midnight strolls?"
"No," Zayn responded looking out the window. "It's rude. He's a free man."
"Maybe next time you can ask him if you can keep him company."
Zayn allowed the comment to rest within him before he realized what it was. He turned to his friend with a frown, catching Niall with a smirk.
"I know what you're doing-"
"I'm not doing anything-"
"You better stop it-"
"I promise you, bud, I'm focusing on what lies ahead and you're the one daydreaming about your driver's midnight wanderings in your garden." Niall retorted. Zayn walked back to his desk, still thinking of Harry. "Can we go back to the issue at hand or are you thinking of it still?"
