"Who even are you?" Artful demanded. The vulture stretched its cream-coloured wings. She seemed offended. "My name's Ebony," she squawked. "I have the ability to see the future," "You should be lucky that I believe you," Exquisite hissed. "Now what is going to happen here?" "My visions aren't clear," Feather replied. "But I'm sure you'll be in the centre of it," she signalled to Artful. "Someone in your pride will betray the code,"

Artful remembered the code. It was a set of rules to everyone living in the savannahs.

Only kill to survive ⁽ʸᵉᵃ ᴵ ᶜᵒᵖᶦᵉᵈ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᶠʳᵒᵐ ᵗʰᵉ 'ᴮʳᵃᵛᵉˡᵃⁿᵈˢ' ᵇᵒᵒᵏ ˡᵒˡᶻ⁾

No fighting at the main waterfall

Must not betray anyone

Respect the great god of Savannahs

"But-" he started

"-you don't have a pride,"

Artful jumped. "How did you know?"

Ebony laughed, "A week ago I forsaw Ruthless killing a lion named Lakeroot and hiding her body in the reeds. He sent a dik-dik to the plains you were hunting in to get blood on your jaws to seem like you killed her," she took a deep breath. "I sent the hyenas to drive you away from the prey that day, away from your pride, but they arrived too late."

Artful growled. "You're the reason I got my jaws 'too bloody!'

Ebony dipped her head. "I had no idea you would be brave enough to fight them," she grumbled. Exquisite was finding this rather amusing, but it had to stop at some point. "Alright stop stop stop," she hissed. "Ebony, introduce yourself to us. We don't know much about you,"

The vulture puffed herself out. "My name is Ebony and I'm a cape vulture. I'm from the flock 'Thornwings.' My grandmother is the leader. I find insects SUPER ANNOYING and my favourite food are impalas. ...and I can see the future,"

"Where is your flock?" Exquisite asked.

"On our tree," she said with a shrug. "I'm just out here alone," "Oh, and-" she squawked to the animals in the waterfall. "Pass the message on," she flapped her wings and took off into the sky. "Bye! I gotta warn some other creatures of their fates. See you in the evening!" and she disappeared.

"Woah," the alligator croaked. "You guys are in trouble,"

"That hit us pretty quickly!" Exquisite mewed.

The alligator unfurled her tail. A little alligator hatchling crawled out and gave a meep. "Take her," she said. "I've got way too many hatchlings, I've been waiting to give one away," and then she slid back into the water.

"Uh," Artful said. "It is weird for a vulture to swoop down on us, tell us that we have a destiny to fulfil, and then get gifted a baby alligator by it's mother?"

"YES!" Exquisite yelped. "This is VERY STRESSFUL."

The alligator hatchling gave another meep and crawled into Exquisite's black-spotted paws. "What should we name him?" Artful asked.

"I kind of like 'Birch'" The cheetah purred.

"Birrrr!" The hatchling gurgled.

"Birch. I like that," Artful said.
