As Amelia got ready for the date, she texted Pedro to see what he was planning on wearing. She didn't want to be overdressed or underdressed, and she already had a few options laid out in front of her. After a few minutes, he texted her back and said that he was going with something more casual. She ended up going with a floral corset top and denim jeans, and it didn't take much longer for her to be ready to leave. Pedro's condo was about half an hour away, so she played a true crime podcast in the car on the way.
"You look beautiful," Pedro said as he walked out to meet her.
"You don't look too bad yourself."
Pedro chuckled and they walked to her car. When she started the car, the podcast picked up right where it had left off, and the hosts were talking about the discovery of one of the victims.
"Sorry, let's turn that off. I hope you're not picky about music."
As soon as he said that he wasn't very picky about music, one of Amelia's favorite songs came on. She kept it at a low volume so that they could talk on the way to the restaurant. The drive was pretty nice, as they talked about their childhoods and shared interests. The restaurant was pretty quiet as they were led to a table by the host. They were seated closer to the back of the restaurant in a more isolated area. Amelia already knew what she wanted, so she didn't have to spend very long looking at the menu.
"Do you want a glass of wine?" Pedro asked.
"I think I'm good. I gotta drive, after all," she said with a chuckle.
The waitress brought out their food a few minutes after they ordered and it wasn't long before they started eating. Pedro took a picture of her before she ate and put his phone down. She had her phone in her bag, but her Apple Watch turned on when it started ringing.
"Someone's calling you," he said. She glanced down and saw Phoebe's name before reaching into her bag for her phone.
"I have to take this. I'll be right back," she said. She rushed to the bathroom and answered the phone.
"Are you busy right now?" Phoebe asked.
"Yeah, I'm on a dinner date with Pedro. Is it urgent?"
"Stay there. You might wanna celebrate because you just booked the Fear Street movies."
"Holy shit, okay. Wow. That's great. Do you know anything else about it?"
"You'll know as soon as I know. Alright, go have fun with your boyfriend. Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
"He's not my boyfriend but okay. I'll talk to you soon."
"Not your boyfriend yet. Alright, bye."
Amelia had to stop herself from skipping out of the bathroom, she was that happy. She had already decided that she would tell everyone in the morning, but her happiness was the first thing that Pedro noticed when she got back to the table.
"I just booked the Fear Street movies. Y'know, the ones that I was waiting for that callback on. I'm so excited!" She whisper-yelled.
"Millie, that's amazing! Do you want dessert? We can celebrate if you want."
"Duh, I want dessert. And that nice bottle of wine."
Pedro paid for everything and they held hands as they walked out of the restaurant. Amelia figured that she would be dropping him off and heading home, so she was surprised when he told her that she could come in when they parked in his driveway. She accepted the offer and grabbed her bag before walking up with him.
"Do you want me to pour you a drink?" He asked after she took her shoes off and put her bag down.
"Um, sure. Would you mind if I stayed the night? I don't drink and drive."
