The sky was full of dark clouds that threatened to burst with rain. Why Peach would pick a day like this to host a party, Bowser wasn't sure. Perhaps this was normal for them, but he wasn't quite fond of storms.
Deep green vines sporting big, beautiful flowers wrapped around the marble columns that made up the castle balcony. It was empty for the moment. Bowser stepped out, silver plate in hand and a sour look upon his face. What had he even grabbed these for?
'To teach that chump a lesson!' He thought bitterly.
The nerve, spilling wine on HIS suit. Making a fool of him in front of everyone! Truth be told, Bowser didn't care about his clothes. All he'd wanted was to leave, the bitter taste of jealousy and nostalgia still lingering in his mouth. His anger was getting the best of him and he knew that.
Sighing inwardly he wondered, was this just his personality? Short tempered? Easily agitated? Never in his life had Bowser cared about what people thought of him. Not until this very moment.
His cheeks were hot with embarrassment. Perhaps it was just his pride as a ruler that he was worked up about. He didn't want his image tainted by what he used to be. Though he knew he could never take back all the things he did, all the terrorizing, the stealing, the chaos he'd ensued upon the Mushroom Kingdom.. he wanted to try to change.
No, he couldn't specifically remember why or when he had a change of heart. Maybe that was only because he never thought about it before. Perhaps it was the love he had for the princess herself, or maybe.. maybe he finally saw that he was always destined to lose on the other side of the board. Maybe this way, he could actually find peace.
Right now, though, peace was the last thing on his mind.
His scarlet eyes wandered over the tiny desserts, the way the ribbons of chocolate looked like fences against the fondant; the cake forever trapped inside unless someone were to take a bite. Atop each one was either a little star or a heart, or simply just adorned with the chocolate stripes.
Bowser couldn't decide if he wanted to shovel them all down his gullet in one go just to spite Luigi, or to simply throw them over the side of the balcony. Leaning more toward the latter, since to him they didn't look very appetizing. Bowser would much rather have a giant, king-sized slice of cake, topped with creamy icing and decorated with lots of fruit. That way he would actually taste something.
He heard footsteps coming from behind him, and he didn't have to turn around to know exactly who it was. "Bowser!" Luigi shouted. His brows were cast downward, hands balled into fists; but he definitely didn't look menacing. Not in the slightest. Bowser could have laughed at him, if he wasn't being such a nuisance. Luigi stomped right up to Bowser, with full intention to speak his mind, but the Koopa king cut him off before he could.
"I DON'T WANT ANYTHIN' FROM YOU, YA HEAR?!" Bowser growled and pointed a finger at him. "Mighty stupid of you to offer a king yer own money! I could get this suit replaced easy, free of charge, so I don't need help from the likes of you!" Relief washed over him once his words were finally out.
Quite uncharacteristically though, Luigi didn't waver. He frowned up at Bowser, standing just a bit too close. Maybe he would actually listen if he reciprocated all that sass. "Uffa! Qual è il tuo problema?! Stavo solo cercando di essere gentile!" When Bowser gave him a confused look, Luigi blushed and did his best to correct himself. His voice softened and he said, "I-I mean.. I was just trying to be nice."
