the ice and snow
is melting fast
and what do you know
underneath
where grass should grow
is a virtual wasteland
hiding below
amid the leftover
of leaves and twigs
a tractor, a trailer
a heavy duty rig
water pistols
one, two, three
a couple nerf guns
a bumblebee?
three hockey sticks
2 mini, one big
a couple tennis balls
plastic shovels to dig
a huge ugly rat
a dinosaur
a couple things
from the ocean floor
a soccer ball
basketball
football too
a green winter glove
and an
orange shoe
some tiny trucks
some tiny cars
bits and pieces
scattered near and far
bottle caps
bungee cord
a roofing shingle
an ironing board
(just kidding)
cigarette butts
(time to quit smoking)
a couple spliffs
(time to quit toking)
just kidding
plastic bags
a cardboard box
empty juice packs
a plastic fox
(seriously)
twigs and leaves
dead flowers too
a birthday card
from me to you
candy wrappers
a crushed beer can
more cigarette butts
a couple hairbands
the solar lights
all snapped in to

some frozen grapes
that fell from the vine
a set of keys
i think those are mine
i could go on
that is for sure
that's just the crap
around my back door
