Oh my god. Did I just say what I think I did?
The shocked expression on Masons face tells me I definitely did. I could punch myself right now. Instead I slap me in the face, not hard, but so that my hand covers a piece of my face. I can already feel my cheeks warming up. The alcohol not helping much with the embarrassment.
Why did I drink this much again? Fucking mistake. Never again.
"Say that again." Mason rasps, his voice suddenly occupied and low. Sending a warm shiver down my spine.
My eyes snap open and my hand falls away when I register his words properly. "What?" I whisper.
There's a pleading look on his face, almost as if he needs to hear the words again. "Can you repeat what you'd just said to me, beautiful?" he sounds so hopeful, so full of...need, that I can't do anything other than obey.
"I think I love you, Mason." and he smiles. Dimples form on his cheeks and straight white teeth flash me a devastating smile. He looks flawless. Too perfect. Almost unreal.
He chuckles. "Thank you, beautiful." what? Oh god, I didn't say my last thought out loud, have I?
Ugh, I so did. His amused eyes are the prove for that.
Masons hands still have a soft hold on my head and when I can finally meet his caramel eyes again he crashes his lips onto mine.
I moan into his mouth when he bites my lower lip only to lick it right after. My stomach is filled with butterflies, my heart full of love. I've never in my life felt so...happy. And I don't ever want it to stop. I want this forever. Because now that I know what happiness actually feels like, I don't want to give it away again. I deserve this. Deserve Mason. For once in my life, I finally want to just take instead of always giving without ever getting something in return.
Mason smiles against my lips when I greedily pull him closer until I can feel his erection on my belly.
"Say it another time, beautiful." his deep voice is like music to my ears.
"I love you." I breath, my eyes still closed, waiting for the kiss to continue. But he doesn't kiss me again. Slowly I open my heavy eyes and my heart races like a thunder in my chest when I meet his gaze.
There's an explosion of emotion behind his eyes. It's fascinating to look at the emotion run wild. Something so rare should be taken on camera.
I realize how heavy his breathing has become, almost like he has no control of it anymore.
My hand is placed on his chest, feeling his erratic heartbeat.
"Mason," I whisper, worry now in my voice. "what's wrong?"
His gaze drops to my lips, following the movement my words build when I speak.
He still hasn't answered my question, just keeps staring at me, as if it's the only way to communicate.
I'm getting freaking nervous under his stare but when I turn my head in embarrassment away from him, he turns it right back to him.
Why the fuck isn't he speaking? I think I'll lose my mind if Mason doesn't say anything in a matter of freaking seconds.
He clears his throat and opens his mouth to speak, but nothing gets out.
"Fay," his voice is really hoarse when he speaks, it sounds like he hasn't spoken in hours. "You cannot ever leave me."
His words worry the fuck out of me. "Why are you saying that, Mason?" I ask in confusion.
"Because you are the fucking love of my life. And I believe if you leave me some day or another, it would fucking unalive me. So please, Fay. Promise me you'll never leave me. Not when you're mad at me. Not when you hate me. Not when you want to kill me. Even not, when you think it's the fucking best.
Because if you decide to leave me, you'll rip out my heart. And I certainly do not want to live that way. I want to live with you, no matter what. I want to grow old with you and see your belly growing with our unborn child inside. I want to marry you like you've always imagined your dream wedding would be. I want to fulfill all your wishes and hopes. I want to see you on your happy and sad days. I want to be with you in sickness and health. Because I can't fucking wait to learn all your flaws and imperfections under this immaculate person. I can't wait to kiss you whenever I get the chance to. And because you've confessed your love for me, beautiful, I can't wait to love you until the death parts us, and I'm sure that even in heaven, my heart belongs all to you. So please, Fay. Promise me you will never leave me."
The moment Mason stops speaking I'm a fucking mess, tears build wet trails down my cheeks. My heart at an abnormal rhythm and my whole being is fucking stunned into silence.
This amazing man made just the most perfect love confession on earth. I wouldn't believe a word if a friend would tell me that their boyfriend said these exact words Mason just did. Because it is fucking unreal. We're not living in a fairy tale, we're living in the brutal real world. But the man standing in front of me managed to proof the opposite. He said those beautiful words to me. He said he loves me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me, all he needs is a promise.
Mason looks at me with a calm and patient expression, waiting for me to say something.
"Then marry me, Mason." My voice is hoarse with emotion. He blinks. And blinks again, almost like he can't believe the words I've just said.
There's a shimmer in his eyes when he meets mine again. "Baby, did you just ask me to marry you?"
I give him a smile, his gaze drops to my lips, waiting for the answer. "Yes." I reply.
The next second I'm flung into the air, a little scream escapes me at the sudden move. The scream turns fast into a giggle when Mason turns me with a happy laugh for a moment in the air. When he puts me finally down, we're both breathless from laughing, and even though there's not much air left, Mason presses his lips onto mine. Kissing me until we really have to catch some air.
His cheeks are flushed when he pulls slightly away from me, looking adorably handsome.
"Does this mean you'll marry me?" I ask with a smile that won't leave.
He returns my smile. And I decide that his next words become my favorite, "Fucking hell yes. I can't wait to finally call you my wife, beautiful." because my heart almost bursts.
