Pov: Jaden
She was relentless, constantly barrading me until I gave in and got in her car.
I wouldn't sign the papers, and so she wouldn't let me out of her sight.
Psycho, I was a damn adult. The only reason she had managed to get me into this car in the first place was the simple fact that I was drugged up on medication.
It's strange really, I don't remember taking anything. But Valerie was sure to keep handing me cup after cup of juice throughout the last few hours. The nurses telling me to drink and get my fluids in.
Pretty sure she put something in there now.
"Screw y-you Valerie..." My head lulled to the side and rested on the window "I'm not...signing...shit" I grumbled, my eyes closed and brows furrowed in confusion.
I was not feeling well, not at all.
The doctors had said my condition was not caused by my head injury a few months back, I was by all accounts healthy and well. It didn't make sense, my seizure.
Now Valerie was taking me back home, and I was having none of it.
She laughed outside the car window "he's just tired! It's been a long day, excuse us!" Some nurse or doctor had obviously helped get me here, and wasn't leaving fast enough for her.
There was a mumble outside the car as she came around, a shake and a clatter when she got in beside me and shut the door with a sigh "really Jaden, you're being ridiculous" the engine roared to life and we were pulling off.
"You're making this way more complicated than it has to be."
I scoffed, shoulders sagged. I hadn't even put my belt on, my jacket was slumped over my shoulders on top of my hospital gown. I was practically stolen from my room "says...you.." I slurred out, trying to get my eyelids to lift so I could glare at her.
"You just wanted...the money...always...did."
There was silence, and rain had started to tap the wind shield, wipers on.
"Oh please, so dramatic Jaden. You were always dramatic, running away like that and leaving everything behind. What makes you think you deserve anything that was left? You dropped it all and ran! I worked hard and I married him, I have rights!"
This woman.
A chill ran up my body, the air conditioning blowing at my face from the side panels was starting to help with some clarity.
Lifting my eyelids enough to see the lock on the door was not up, Valerie digging herself a deeper hole by the second continued yammering on about what was owed her.
"I mean I even had to sleep with him!..."
I tuned her out, my heavy hand trying to reach for the door handle inconspicuously.
"Wow this guy will not get off my ass!" Valerie glared into the rear view mirror, distracted with the truck behind her, bright lights blasting into her vision " turn off your high beams dickhead!!"
My fingertips slid onto the plate of the door handle, the roar of the rain pulsed with my sudden burst of determination and courage, quickly I yanked the handle back and threw myself out of the car into the raging downpour, rolling down a steep grassy decline by the edge of a treeline.
There was a screech of tires and a horn blare as i spun, my world rotating. Painfully I crashed over lumps in the hillside and through some brush, drenched head to toe and bruised all over. Staggering I shakily tried to sit up, the air knocked out of my lungs.
