THERAPY
Olivia Harper

Work, therapy.

It was my whole life.

If I wasn't in the office I was at home filling out paperwork or having zoom meetings with clients or coworkers.

Being a therapists is a roller coaster of a job.

Some clients I have are psychotic.

They struggle with many mental health issues and need more help than I can provide, but don't have the budget for it so they come to me.

So I try my best but sometimes it's scary to hear what they have to say. But I can't show any emotion other than sympathy.

Fear is not aloud.

We learned that in university when studying. When we show fr
Others just need a place to vent or to be heard. A safe place, which is what I provide.

It's kind of crazy, but I didn't mind it, it was for my future, for my plan.

I could go on for days about what I wanted to accomplish in my lifetime, but I don't think you want to hear that.

It's currently 10 am and I'm sitting in my office doing paperwork. I've gotten multiple new clients in the past few weeks so I just keep getting busier and busier.

Demi, Oliver, Paul, and James.

Four new clients with very different cases.

Demi and Paul just needed space to vent and talk to someone who could help them with the day to day struggles of life.

But Oliver struggled with ocd, something I could relate to, and had asked me for help. I don't know what I'm going to do there but I'll figure it out.

James however is a more interesting client.

The email I got from him said he's struggling to forget things, stuff he's done in the past, that he regrets.

He didn't go into much detail, which means he's holding back.

I like working with people like that, not because I enjoy they're feeling, but because it's a challenge to get them to forgive themselves and I like a challenge.

I heard a knock on the door while I read over James email.

"Come in" I reply and in walks Maria, my best friend. I smile and she plops down more paper on my desk.

"Happy Monday." She says sarcastically.

"It never ends does it." I say while scanning the documents she just gave me.

"Like you care, you love work." She rolls her eyes.

"You got me there." I laugh.

I didn't have much of a social life, aside from hanging out with Maria and my brothers. We go out to bars every now and then, but never to make more long term friends. It was more of a one night adventure.
