The Prettiest Night

"hang out tonight?♡" Rui texted him.

"You know the answer to thatψ(｀∇')ψ" Tsukasa texted back.

"meet outside that cafe we went to"

"I've kinda always felt a little weird being with Rui since we... started dating. I know Saki told me it's not weird that we're dating, but it just... kinda feels wrong? Not that much! But... yeah. Ugh, I'm just gonna head to that cafe before I feel my stomach getting queasier." Tsukasa tried to shake it off and got over to the outside of the cafe.

"Ruiiii~ Are you here yet...?"

"Behind you." Someone whispered behind him.

"ACKFOSHSOSOWJSIA!" Tsukasa jumped!

"Ehehe, woopsie! I didn't mean to scare you that badly."

"You knew what you were doing."

"Oh, but... I'm perfectly innocent! Why, I'm so offended by those accusations!"

Tsukasa rolled his eyes and said, "Whatever."

"Come, follow me. I have the perfect place we can go to tonight." Rui grabbed Tsukasa and started jogging off somewhere, Tsukasa couldn't help hut stare in awe at how... how pretty Rui had looked. "His swaying hair, his perfect... woah, snap out it Tsukasa and get back to the present!"

Minutes later, Rui came to a stop and started walking, lightly tugging on Tsukasa, who was still hyper-focused on Rui's grin.

"Here we are." He let go of Tsukasa's hand, sitting down on the grassy hill he brought them to.

"A park...? What's so special about this?"

"That's what makes it so special! So simple and yet so beautiful. Just look around you, Tsukasa."

He didn't know if it was Rui convincing him the park looked pretty, if it was the trees and flora that were practically perfection, or merely the aura of a small park on a dark night... but something was making him feel starstruck.

"See? There's so much to appreciate with the smallest of things, like this park."

"You're... right. There is."

"It's almost as pretty as you!"

"Oh, Rui... I... uhm..." Tsukasa couldn't find the words to say in the moment, but you could easily tell he was flustered by Rui's little comment.

"What, cat got your tongue?"

"Shut it..."

Rui gave Tsukasa a warm smile, feeling himself start to relish in the peace. The peace of the park. The peace of the little animals. Being with Tsukasa.

"Do you see that constellation over there?" Rui pointed up towards the navy-blue night sky at a cluster of stars forming a peculiar shape. "What about it...?"

"That one's your zodiac sign. Taurus. Which... brings me to my next topic. Your birthday's coming up, no?" Rui grinned.

"I'm surprised you even remembered..."

"Oh, how could I forget your birthday?"

"Alas, I do not know! But, I would appreciate a gift." Tsuaksa smiled, an ever so slightly mischevious look in his eyes.

"I'm glad you brought that one up. What do you want for your birthday?"

"To have a good day."

"No need to have such a humble reply! I'll get you anything you want."

"Just spending time with you is enough..." Rui cleared his throat and his cheeks grew a sudden pale-pink tone to them, responding with, "No, I insist."

"I don't need anything, really!"

Rui sighed, "I'll just give you some time to think about it."

Tsukasa tilted his head and rested it on Rui's shoulder, fluttering his eyes closed. "This place isn't so boring, I guess."

"Yes... doesn't the sky look fascinating? The moon's shimmering light serves as a reminder of our connection to the universe, though, it reminds me of you. The constant change, you're always getting better and better at performing. It fascinates me." Rui chuckled and kept staring at the gorgeous night sky.

Tsukasa gave Rui another warm smile and thought to himself, "I didn't understand anything he just said."

"Though, I don't think I ever stopped and took a minute to realize... how pretty your eyes are."

"They aren't much, really... I could say the same about yours.

"They're different..."

"Different? How so?"

"Seeing them glisten in the moonlight... even if I wanted to look away, I simply wouldn't be able to." Tsukasa cupped Rui's cheeks in his hands, getting lost in the moment.

" They can't be all that great... I mean, theres not many people without alluring eyes, what makes me different to you?"

"E-Everything... you're the only boy I can say I've ever felt this way for." Tsukasa blushed slightly.

"The only boy?" Rui looked deeper into Tsukasa's eyes and thought, "Is he actually going to kiss me this time!? Does my breath smell? If I turn away to check, he'd think i'm totally out of it. Then again, he probably already does... ah, get a grip, Rui! You've kissed him multiple times and now suddenly when he wants to do the same to you, you can't handle it?!"

Tsukasa pressed his lips against Rui's.

"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my goddd! Did I really just do that?! Did I just kiss him?! Did he even like that?!" Tsukasa filled his mind with this.

Tsukasa backed a few steps away and said, "A-Ah, I feel like I didn't do it quite right... was I supposed to lean in? Sorry, I'm not good at this."

"It's fine, Tsukasa! If you'd like... I can give you another try."

Tsukasa leaned forward and kissed Rui again, quickly breaking it off and darting his eyes towards a shadowy figure.

"Ah..." Tsukasa bit his lip and backed away, a worried look on his face.

"Is something wrong...?"

"N-No...! It's nothing. Nothing at all."

"Are you sure?"

"Mhm..."

Tsukasa allowed himself to shuffle around a bit and ended up leaning back on Rui's shoulder, he closed his eyes once more. Rui rested his own head on Tsukasa's and let out a soft giggle. "Rest well, Tsukasa." He muttered. "Tsukasa kissed me. He kissed me! And on one of the prettiest nights I've seen, too! I mean... I've kissed him before, so why does this feel different...? It doesn't make sense, but then again I think we both enjoyed it and that's all that matters." Rui spoke in his head.
