Peter is running.

Peter is running as fast as his legs could take him.

He doesn't know where to go but his mind and senses are screaming at him to keep running.

"Peter" a voice calls out, almost like an echo.

Peter keeps running. He doesn't want to go back. He doesn't want to go back and deal with everything.

"Pete" the voice calls again but Peter ignores it.

He runs and runs and runs until he feels like someone is shaking him. His eyes goes wide and...he wakes up.

"Deep breaths kid, you're alright" the voice assures.

Peter looks in front of him to see Tony Stark and Dum-E beside him holding a cup of water. Tony notices the kid isn't taking the cup of water so Tony takes it from Dum-E and practically shoves the cup into Peters hands.

Peter doesn't say anything until he finishes his cup of water with a mumbled thanks. He knows he shouldn't be thinking about it but wonders what his dream had been.

"You good now?" Tony wonders.

"It happened again" Peter mumbles, looking down and placing the cup on the table.

"The same dream?" Tony questions which allows Peter to nod his head. "Does anyone else know about this?"

"Just you, Mj and Ned" Peter answers.

"Maybe Wanda could help?" Tony suggests.

"She can't look inside my head to look into my dreams. She told you that her powers don't work like that" Peter reminds him.

"Kid...do you think your dreams are from ummm you wanting to escape your old foster homes?" Tony asks.

"I've only ever thought about running away but knew I couldn't. I've tried when I was younger and it just ended up with CPS" Peter shrugs.

Tony knows all about Peters life. How his parents got into a plane crash when he was four, him being sent to his uncle and aunt just for them to get shot in his own home when he was eleven and then being sent to different foster homes.

All of his foster homes were terrible. He had been abused, raped and manipulated. Tony wanted to kill them all but Peter didn't allow him too. He went from the Simtons, Westcotts, Waltz and so on. He's been in around twenty different foster homes and now he's only fifteen.

Tony had found him because he was looking for Spider-Man. He noticed all the signs as they got closer and Tony invited him for lab days. One day it got so bad, he almost passed out in the elevator where Tony had finally asked him what's been going on.

Peter didn't really open up but it was enough for Tony to adopt him. He's only known Peter for a year but even Rhodey, Pepper, Happy and the Avengers knew that Tony saw Peter as a son. Pepper had also adopted him because she fell in love with him too and so it made the process easier.

"Why don't you get some rest" Tony suggests.

"Not tired. I think I'm just going to patrol" Peter claims.

It's eight pm on a Sunday. Tomorrow he has school which also includes an Academic Decathlon meet afterwards. Decathlon is practically everyday because of a competition the next week. Everyone is hoping it doesn't end up like DC but with Parker Luck, Peter is still going to pack his suit.

"Don't get home too late, you still have school" Tony allows.

"I won't, see you later Tony" Peter assures as he walks out of the lab only to bump into Rhodey.
