How Could You Do This?

Maria was wondering why Anita had told that lie. Was she not aware of the fact that Tony's life was already in peril? Or did she just not care about Tony because of what happened to her boyfriend and Maria's older brother Bernardo at Tony's hands? She was not really expecting Anita to care about Tony at all even though he was Maria's love. She cared about Maria but not the love of Maria's life Tony. Maybe she would've care about Tony if he hadn't ended Bernardo,the boyfriend of Anita and Maria's older brother. 

Maria sees Anita and asked,"How could you do this? Tony's life was already in danger. I know he ended the love of your life but he is the love of my life." Anita said,"I did it because of what he did to Bernardo. And because when I went to Doc's to deliver your message, his best friend Riff's gang attempted to do something to me." Maria asked,"What? What did they do?" Anita whispers in her ear. Maria said,"So you put my love in peril just because of something that he wasn't even involved in?" Anita said,"I lied to them by telling Valentina to tell Tony that Chino found out about you and Tony and ended you." Maria shouted,"Anita! That was not the message I wanted to have delivered!" before saying,"I feel for you because of what happened to you but I love Tony as well!"
