CHAPTER ONE!

I COULDN'T BRING MYSELF to leave the farmhouse after coming back and finding that Dina was gone. I stayed in that house for months after that, every time I tried to leave I just couldn't. I felt extremely bad for what I did to her. I betrayed her trust. I left our family and now I'm paying for it. I couldn't even sleep in the bed that we slept in, I just sleep on the couch now. Time just kept going by and the more I just fell deep into my sorrow. I was chopping some rabbit up in the kitchen trying to keep my mind at peace but it wasn't working.

"Excuse me-" I suddenly hear before I swing around and point a knife at whoever is in the house. A girl immediately puts up her hands in confusion. She wasn't holding a gun or anything but I was still careful.
"Don't fucking move!" I shout at her. I take a proper look at her. She had brunette hair which was long but tied back in a high ponytail, she was tall and fit and had blue-grey eyes. She was absolutely stunning. Properly one of the most beautiful women I have seen in a very long time. She wore a simple tank top and tight jeans with worn-out boots. She looked tired and worn out and bruised and cut.

"I don't mean any harm!" She says.
"What the hell do you want?!" I shout quickly taking my gun out and pointing it at her instead of the knife.
"Hey easy now I'm not pointing a gun at you, no need for you to take out yours" She says.
"Answer my question!"
"It's a house. I thought it was abandoned and thought I'd scavenge for supplies" She says but I don't put my gun down.
"Why are you here?" I ask her.
"I'm heading home" She says.
"Get out of my house!" She nods her head.
"Sure no problem" She immediately turns around and walks out of my house.

I finally lowered my gun. Geez that was weird, no one has ever willingly walked out. I run my hand through my messy hair and put my gun on the counter. Unless I imagined her, am I going crazy? I don't know how long I stayed in the house before I finally looked outside for her. Got to make sure I ain't crazy. I look around with my rifle in my hands and that's when I spot her again but this time way further away. She was camping out at the edge of my property.

"Fuck sake" I say and start walking toward her. I get right behind her pointing the gun at her head.
"I thought I told you to get out of here!" I shouted at her and she barely flinched she just kept sharpening her knife.
"You told me to get out of your house and I did" She says and I frown at her comeback.
"That means get the fuck out of my whole damn property" I say and she turns her head to look at me.
"Didn't see your name on it neither did I see any warnings to stay out so no I won't" She says.
"Excuse me?" I ask a bit in shock at her attitude. I am pointing a gun at her but she didn't even seem worried.

"Look I'm tired and it's getting dark, I just want a night's rest and then I'll get the fuck off your property" Who the hell is this girl? I look around and see a beautiful horse that was white with grey dots all over them. The horse was happily grazing and I see that she had put its saddle and reins on my fence.
"Is that your horse?"
"No it's my donkey" I stare at her blankly and she smiles at me.
"So not a big fan of jokes?" She asks and I look away from her.
"You need to leave" I tell her putting my rifle strap on my shoulder.
"Like I said before it's getting dark and Delta doesn't do well in the dark, she gets too clumsy and I'm not going to put my horse down just because of some stupid fall" She says and I sigh.

"Why are you here anyway?" I ask her adjusting the rifle strap on my shoulder.
"Heading on home like I already told you" she says.
"How far is your home then?" I ask annoyed.
"About four days away from here" I frown.
"Four days? Why the hell are you so far away from home?" She shifts and my left hand immediately grips my rifle.
"Easy there tiger. I'm just moving to look at you" She says and I slowly release my grip.
"Why are you out here talking to me?" She asks and I stay quiet.
"I don't want you shooting me in my sleep" I say and she laughs.
"If I was going to kill you, you would be dead already. I had the drop on you way before you heard or saw me" She says and I glare at her.

"Fine I just don't like strangers"
"Neither do I" She says and we stare into each other's eyes. Something about those enchanting eyes made me not want to look away. Wait did I just call her eyes enchanting?
"You don't have to worry about me, I'll behave" She says and winks at me.
"How do I know that you won't kill me?" I ask her.
"I don't know that's up to you and how ready you are to trust a stranger, will you trust a stranger?" She asks with a smirk on her face.
"I won't kill you because I know if I try and attack you, you will kill me or the other way around. I don't want that" She says and in a way, I almost relaxed.
"Just get off my property in the morning" I say and she nods her head.
"Sure thing" She says and I turn around and start walking away when I suddenly stop and turn around to look at her. She wasn't looking at me simply sharpening her knife again.
"Hey, what's your name?" I ask and she turns to look at me with a smile on her face.

"Dani Darwin" She says.
"Ellie Williams" I say and she nods her head. I turn around and just a hit of a smile forms on my face. Now I know the stranger's name but she'll be gone in the morning. My smile drops and I walk back to my empty home.
