Not 18, but 20 years ago...
"Aww, mommy needs to go to the market really quick. You'll be a good girl while I'm gone, right Y/N?"
"coo~ awoo?"
The mother of Y/N got up and regrouped with her husband, who was waiting at the doorway. Together they walked out, got on a carriage, and started to move.
The husband said, "How was Y/N? Was she crying?"
"Of course not, my baby is strong!" The wife was beaming as any proud mother would. "You know why I named her Y/N?"
Slightly curious, he asked, "Why? Does it have something to do with your old world?"
"Yep! People named 'Y/N' were told to have a happy future. So our baby's name means she has many happy futures to come!"
While in a jovial mood, she went on about the bizarre and interesting things she had in her world. Carriages without horses, tablets with glowing screens, and places trying to change for the better All these things didn't exist in this world, and she longed for the last one the most.
When she first got isekai'd, the villagers feared her and wanted to kill her. But when her future husband saw how shocked and scared she was, he managed to convince the other villagers to let her stay since he was the mayor's son. He helped her slowly adapt to the unfamiliar world, leading them to slowly fall in love with each other. However, the villagers were very against having an outsider in their village, and even more against having her as the future mayor's wife. So, the mayor thought it was best that they seclude themselves until everything calmed down.
The wife looked at her husband and said, "Hey, how much longer do we need to keep hiding?"
He sighed, "I've told you before, we aren't hiding! We just need to keep low for a little while."
"I know, I know~ but I can't help but worry about this. Your brother, what if he convinces your father to keep us here and get himself elected mayor? I don't want to be a setback in your life—you've already done so much for me. Plus, our baby shouldn't need to grow up isolated from others."
He persuadingly replied, "That's exactly why we need to wait! If we go out now, she'll only be isolated by the other children for being DIFFERENT from the rest. And don't worry; we'll get out soon. The villagers are sure to understand how much of a blessing you are to all of us!"
She calmed down and relaxed the clasping of her hands. There was a small cut on her finger that had been bandaged. She used to be a gardener, and once she got isekai'd, she gained a power. Her blood had the special characteristic of being able to nourish all plants within seven metres from a single drop of it seeping into the ground. Before her arrival, there was a famine terrorising the town. But with all her blood, she could help the village and bring it back to prosperity.
"Neigh~!!"
Suddenly, a group of bandits attacked the carriage and swung their axes at the horses, killing them.
"Wha—what's going on?!"
The wife was shaking and struck with fear. The husband didn't know what to do, so all he could do was embrace his wife as reassurance. They didn't know what was happening and could only hope for the best. Was this a robbery... or a murder unfolding?
The bandits had broken the door and loomed in front of the couple. They were cackling with confidence and looked down at them like they were insignificant.
One of the bandits crowed, "Hahaha! So these are the lovebirds we have to kill!"
The husband gulped and protectively moved his hand in front of his wife.
"Who are you and why do you want to kill me and my wife?! I'll let you know that I'm the future mayor!"
The bandits looked at each other and then burst into laughter.
"Pfft~!! You want to know who sent us—your brother! Oh, and once we're done, you won't be the mayor anytime."
The bandit at the carriage door swung his axe at the husband's stomach. The husband then fell to the ground and coughed up blood. Then, another bandit roughly grabbed the wife's arm and yanked her out of the carriage.
"Kyaa!!"
"So, the customer said we just had to make her bleed a lot on the ground. Haha, what a bastard he is, gyahahaha!!"
The wife had been cut multiple times, so all of her blood would be spilt. The husband was too injured from his deep cut to do anything. He couldn't even say a word for the blood that would be coughed up. After a few minutes, the two laid lifelessly, and all of the wife's blood was smeared on the ground. Purple hyacinths grew in the surroundings, for her death had brought great prosperity to the entirety of the village.
After that, the incident was labelled as an unfortunate robbery that resulted in the deaths of the mayor's eldest son and a woman. Thankfully, Y/N was given protection by the mayor, who publicly announced a contract that would promise protection to her. After a few weeks, the mayor ended up getting tuberculosis and dying. Soon, the mayor's second son became the new mayor, but because of the publicly known contract, he couldn't harm Y/N since it would only show his incompetence to keep a single contract. He gave her the bare minimum of necessities, and everyone practically ignored her out of fear of getting on the mayor's bad side since everyone knew he didn't like her. He told everyone to never mention the contract unless needed. However, on Y/N's 13th birthday, it was found out that she had managed to have an isekai power due to her mother being an isekai'd person. The village at this time was once again facing crop problems. Because of the extremely high amounts of nutrients, nutrient pollution was heavily affecting the village. They were starting to rely more and more on hunting. But with Y/N's special characteristic, her power could be used to lure in strong people, even isekai protags, to like her and even stay in the village to help the hunt. Eventually, the mayor told Y/N that the contract she had been hearing about when she was little was actually a debt that her parents owed in exchange for protecting her until she turned 13. In the end, her parents died and never paid off their debt, and now Y/N had to fulfil her part of the contract and pay him back. So, for all these years, she had been working to pay off a debt that didn't even exist and helping exploit people to help with village hunts.
She was simply a tool that was never seen ONCE as a human after the only people that cared about her died.
Back in the present time...
"Damn!! Whoever made her that annoying, I'd kill! I'm so brassed off after having to talk to her."
William was exhausted and decided to go back to his shack. He couldn't stop thinking of how WEIRD that lady was and what devious scheme he would create to kill more children until he dozed off.
"BIIIIIING BOOOOONG, BIIIIIING BOOOONG!!!"
"BLOODY CHILDREN!! WHO THE HELL IS MAKING THIS CARRY-ON?!"
William was very cranky because of the loud bells being rung during his nap time. Usually, he would sleep until 1 PM because his pizzeria didn't open any earlier, mainly because it was shut down.
Suddenly, a woman's voice was heard: "Hello? Is Sir William awake?"
