"Oh goodness! You are here!" Corvina exclaimed as she greeted me with a huge smile. I stepped inside the packhouse, and Corvina came forward to greet me with a hug.

"I didn't have any other choice." I sighed, "I cannot afford to get on the Beta female's bad side, now can I!" I joked and Corvina gave me a stern look.

"You brought flowers!" Corvina exclaimed noticing the basket of flowers I was carrying. I nodded and she excitedly exclaimed, "They will be perfect for some centrepieces."

"Or for desserts!" I suggested and her eyes brightened. "Yes!"

"Let's go inside, others are waiting." She said as she ushered me inside towards the kitchen.

As I followed her, I sighed heavily. I'd give anything to just go return to bed and sleep. My morning sickness was absolutely awful, as it had been the previous few days. I spent the night before in my bathroom. It wasn't any better in the morning. But I can't say no to Corvina when she invites me in this manner. Her inviting me to the females' gathering is also significant because no pack ever invites outsiders to these gatherings. I may not stay here for long, but I will get to know other females, and it makes me feel a lot better knowing that they do not regard me as an outsider.

We entered a large kitchen after passing through the living room and a small hallway. Corvina stepped inside first and announced,

"Everyone, you know Nesta, yes? She will be joining us today. She is an excellent baker!"

I stepped inside and all the eyes turned to me. Why am I so nervous! Look up!

And I do, I don't know what I was expecting but the eyes that stared at we didn't have an ounce of judgement in them. They were warm and welcoming. There were at least thirty females in that room, but I didn't sense hostility from anyone! As I walked inside, their bright and warm smiles put me at ease. Some even went so far as to stand up and introduce themselves. As they all mingled in conversation, I joined them. I can't deny that this was a bit overwhelming, and I would need more time to properly adjust to some of them, if not all of them.

"The ingredients have arrived!" When Luna Sigrún's cheerful voice rang, our gaze was drawn to the kitchen's entrance. She walked inside with a huge smile on her face, two bulky males following her, carrying huge bags that appeared to be full of baking ingredients. As the males placed the bags on the counter, Corvina approached Sigrún. Others started taking out the things from the bags and started arranging them, pulling out the dishes and other things they needed. And all I did was stand there, looking around. I felt so out of place that I wouldn't even be able to put it in words. It sorts of felt as if I didn't belong there, with them, in that kitchen.

"Hi!" A cheery greeting and a warm hug jolted me out of my thoughts. I looked up as Sigrún pulled away.

"Why is it so difficult to reach you, Nesta?" Sigrún spoke as if she was truly disappointed. "I thought we agreed to hang out more." She said and I could see others staring over her shoulder. I didn't know we were such close friends!

"Um... "I had become ill just after the Lune Festival." I laughed awkwardly, lying through my teeth, but she didn't seem to suspect anything.

"You do appear a little pale. "Are you alright now?" Luna Sigrún inquired, a worried shadow on her face.

"Sick? What had happened? I didn't hear you say anything the last time I saw you!" Corvina chirped in sounding more concerned. You had to ask!

"I didn't want to trouble you. I am fine now." I smiled, and they nodded, counselling and offering me various pieces of advice. We soon changed the subject as we began baking.
